  Back up all data?
Posted by: mjchase - 07-14-2022, 01:29 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (1)

Is there any way to back up all the data produced by the MRCC? To do a Sysex dump or something similar to a PC or Mac, and a Sysex Restore?

I see the data's stored on a MicroSD card, and I assume the "under the left panel" in the manual means "unscrew the panel to get to where the MicroSD card is seated". (Which in my case also means disconnecting a number of things and taking the MRCC off my pedalboard; I have it mounted on a pedalboard where it's talking to several synths, a sequencer, and a few hardware keyboards as part of my live rig). It'd be nice to know I can back up the presets and settings in some easier way besides copying the contents of a card that's hard to access.

Thanks!

NDLR clock unstable to incoming clock
Posted by: Marc Hackenberg - 07-10-2022, 06:34 AM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (13)

There seems to he a few related posts on this topic but i am yet to find a conclusive answer. This issue has been bugging me for some time and i have reached the end of my troubleshooting tree. I want to use the NDLR in performances but it is not acting reliably for me as follows:

Basically NDLR clock is experiencing big variations on the information it sends when trying to stay in sync to midi clock from an external source. The external clock bpm is fixed.

I get the same result using din midi and now I've tried usb midi with the same issue. I use firmware 73 and intend to try 79 soon even though no specific changes seem to have been made in this area.

Clock sources have been deluge (din and usb), DJS1000 (din) and a dj controller(din) all with the same result. I have seperately verified these clocks are received by other devices without an issue and no fluctuations.

Visually on the NDLR main screen I can see the clock for an incoming bpm of 137 fluctuate between 136.7 and 137.9. On the setting page the 'Tic' indications are very irregular, sometimes two or three rapid tics at high speed and then it seems to miss one or two. I can probably provide a video if required.

Most importantly audio, it is definitely audible and some motifs seem to drift over time and essentially lag a bit and occasionally catch up. Reference to the deluge and any downstream equipment like my drum machine.

Without the NDLR my entire setup is super tight and well synced, for some reason adding NDLR into the mix upset things greatly and my suspicion is that my unit has trouble remaining synced to the clock in for some reason.

I would really appreciate any additional troubleshooting tips/methods of elimination, or any possible solutions.

Also would like to understand if other users are seeing these tic and bpm display fluctuations.

Thanks in advance

Issues with drone not triggering when pad is playing
Posted by: jlopatin - 07-07-2022, 07:07 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (5)

Hello- I'm a fairly new NDLR user, and I've run into a frustrating issue.

The Drone does not trigger if the pad is also playing. I am using the USB outs assigned like this:

1USB1- Pad (plus 2,3,4 for polychain) feeding Deepmind12 (polychained with minilogue and hydrasynth)
1USB2- drone- 1010 Lemondrop
1USB3- motif 1- unused
1USB4- motif 2- unused
Chord changes are coming in on USB1 channel 16.

I built the pad parts, and everything is working fine.

I stopped the pads, and then started the drone to work out the part. The drone is set to trigger on chord changes (4 dots no filled boxes). Everything works fine.

However, as soon as I start the pad also, the drone stops triggering. I viewed the incoming midi logs (in MPC, which is handling all midi routing), and when the pad is playing, I see no incoming midi for the drone. I did test the motif parts, and they seem to be working fine, allowing the drone to trigger correctly. It's only the pad that causes the issue.

I have tested this with the 5pin DIN out as well, and the behavior is exactly the same...

One other important note- this is a computer free configuration, so I can't really do away with the MPC.

Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

Help: Midi mapping to 8 channels
Posted by: opabert - 07-02-2022, 07:39 AM - Forum: Hardware MIDI Connectivity - Replies (17)

Hello to you all,
my name Bert age 70++  English not my native language.  I send email to support but not reply on that. Have very large setup with  keybords,  2 sequencers and in total 10x  differ mono synth.

For sometime i use retrokits midi router for my MIDI routing and this week buy MRCC because of the connectivity, cable management and the ON/OFF buttons per MID channel
For days try figger out how routing my gear who not doing what i able do with my retrokits.
MRCC MID DIN INPUT -1   have a keybord / Sequencer and all my SYNT use differ midi channel input like this:
SYNT-1 input set to MID CH-1
SYNT-2 input set to MID CH-2
SYNT-3 input set to MID CH-3
In channel mapping, it seem not possible mapping the MID keybord or sequencer channel-1  to  8 synt differ MID channels out. Only, work when all 8 synth manual set to same MID channel in this case MID channel 1.
The channel mapping have no "OUT-ALL")

in short terms,
Possible to connect my MIDI keybord or sequencer run over input channel-1 MRCC MID mapping to output 8 differ MID channels?

Thank you

Hi all,

I tried to look for posts about it but I didn't find anything. Is it possible to use 4 software instruments with the ndlr? How should I set up the instrument? Once all the USB ports have been assigned, nothing is heard. Advice?  what am I doing wrong?

Thankss

  Open Source Firmware?
Posted by: benstat - 06-24-2022, 12:11 AM - Forum: MRCC Feature Requests - Replies (6)

Hi all,

Having been a software developer for more years than I care to mention, I find myself wanting to tweak the MRCC firmware (and NDLR too), and potentially submit bug fixes and improvements.

I realize it's a bit of an unusual, niche request, but there are a lot of us software devs around, and we just can't help ourselves sometimes! It's also something that other, small manufacturers have done in the past (eg. Electra One, Norns, etc).

Not much to lose really, unless of course there are trade secrets buried in the code. Wouldn't take long to share the source via GitHub, and then approve/decline push requests from outsiders once in a while.

Just something to consider that could potentially benefit everybody.

Keep up the good work!

Many thanks,
Ben

  I love the MRCC
Posted by: Jeremiah - 06-20-2022, 12:32 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (1)

Hello, I'm just a home hobbyist, but of long-standing going way back to cassette-based 4-track recording. DAWs like Voyetra Digital Orchestrator on 5 inch floppies and then 3 inch floppies. Now with Ableton Live.

Only people of a certain age will know what that refers to.

I've been fortunate to recently update with some nice hardware synths.

And your MRCC MIDI Router Control Center which is like a dream come true.

To be sure, I'm only doing the most basic stuff, but it works great!

Thanks!
