Syncing motifs / muting and unmuting via external MIDI
Posted by: Bigsniff - 01-10-2020, 10:03 AM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (4)

In my first week of playing with the NDLR, I didn’t realized that the motifs are paused and started, not muted and unmuted. While this is interesting, I’m trying to figuring out the best way to “mute” and “unmute” my four parts while keeping everything in synch if desired when sequencing the NDLR from an external piece of gear - my Cirklon in this case.

I could map out each of the four parts via CC’s and pause/unpause them, or I could map a CC for the global start/stop which puts everything in sync. Are those my only options? Is there a better way or workaround? Is there any way to “mute” parts and keep the motifs in sync? [I have thought about using CC’s to control the master volume of the 4 synths I have the NDLR connected to]

  Chord range of notes
Posted by: Versipellis - 01-10-2020, 12:58 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (1)

Is there any way to spread the range of notes without changing the number of notes played? i.e. if I wanted a chord to span several octaves but only have a 4-voice synth.

  Pattern / rhythm synchronicity
Posted by: Synthfox - 01-09-2020, 12:25 AM - Forum: Advanced Features - Replies (3)

I created a user pattern with 12 steps. Corresponding a user rhythm with 14 steps, (2 steps muted) = 12 steps also. When I now start playing motif1, the pattern starts with step 1, the rhythm with step 4. Shouldn`t they start both on step 1 when I press the play all button?

Musique By Which to Simmer Turkey Stock
Posted by: musicmatters - 01-08-2020, 08:19 PM - Forum: Show me what you got! - Replies (1)

https://soundcloud.com/user-417871575/mu...ck-simmers

Made this over Thanksgiving, while cooking the festive family meal  The pad was the Streichfett, drone was Blofeld, Motif 1 also went through Blofeld, and Motif 2 was a Mopho.  The key is Dm harmonic.  My goal was to make something that was constantly evolving and didn't need a whole lot of direct hands-on attention.

Sure it's long (17:33), but considering the turkey stock simmered for almost 18 hours, it could have been longer.

No Note Output on USB (WIN)
Posted by: SerErris - 01-08-2020, 04:44 AM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (2)

Hi,

I received my new NDLR today and tried to connect to a PC with Reaper and VSTs.

I cannot get it to work at all.

I changed the Midi Output to USB 1 - no notes send.

I also setup MIDI-OX to receive on NDLR Midi in - and it receives the Start and Stop messages .. however it does not receive any note events at all.

If I remove all Filters in MIDI-OX I can see the clock and the start/stop messages:
00055B9A  2  --    F8    --    --  --  ---  Timing Clock
00055BB4  2  --    F8    --    --  --  ---  Timing Clock
00055BCF  2  --    F8    --    --  --  ---  Timing Clock
00055BEA  2  --    F8    --    --  --  ---  Timing Clock
00055C04  2  --    F8    --    --  --  ---  Timing Clock
00055C04  2  --    FA    --    --  --  ---  Start
00055C1F  2  --    F8    --    --  --  ---  Timing Clock
00055C39  2  --    F8    --    --  --  ---  Timing Clock
00055C54  2  --    F8    --    --  --  ---  Timing Clock
00055C64  2  --    FC    --    --  --  ---  Stop
00055C6F  2  --    F8    --    --  --  ---  Timing Clock
00055C89  2  --    F8    --    --  --  ---  Timing Clock
00055CA4  2  --    F8    --    --  --  ---  Timing Clock

But thats it. Any Idea what is going wrong and Why I do not see any output?

BTW: It is irrelevant if I use PAD, Drone or Motifs ... nothing there - not on any press on any of the chord buttons. Huh

  Start/stop don't pass MIDI-Through
Posted by: Kai-vD - 01-07-2020, 11:40 PM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (12)

Hi Community,

I just purchased a NDLR a few days ago.

My problem is that the master clock start/stop messages from my other sequencer (Toraiz Squid) doesn't go though the NDLR.

The Synths that I trigger with the NDLR don't get the SSC any more. I tried all menu-settings for the clock-out-port, without success.

MIDI-notes are passed through correctly, only SSC messages aren't.

My Squid is connected to MIDI B Input, my synths are connected to MIDI B Output.

The Squid is not using the same channel as the NDLR Cntl channel. (I don't use/need the Cntl channel at all.)

(I haven't tried yet to use the same channel as KB Trans.  - because I don't want the KB to transpose...

As the masterclock comes from my Squid, the NDLR is set to external clock. There IS a clock coming in, the NDLR shows that with the blinking letters on the display.)

Another day another cool synth Korg Wavestate
Posted by: Darryl - 01-06-2020, 10:38 PM - Forum: Synths and Gear News, Discussion - Replies (2)

Dang, another cool synth is announced. I've got a Blofeld, two mono evolvers and a poly evolver. Do I need another wave synth? I think the answer is, of course I do!  Big Grin Always wanted a vector synthesis synth like the Fizmo (transwave), but they are big and expensive.  This might be the one, we'll see about the price.

  Chord button functionality?
Posted by: asteralesmusic - 01-05-2020, 01:54 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (4)

I could have sworn I was using chord buttons to preview chords without having to start the pad part, but now they don't do anything except change the chord type. I've tried resetting everything (even though it doesn't seem to have wiped out previously saved chord sequences, midi channel settings, etc?).  It seems to work fine other than that so am I imagining a feature that doesn't exist? Also, would expect a factory reset to completely erase previous settings.

Minilogue XD as MIDI controller broke the NDLR?
Posted by: yyj2 - 01-05-2020, 12:36 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (4)

This morning I setup controlling the NDLR with my Minilogue XD’s keyboard.  Changing chords appeared to be working fine but when I went to change the patch on ML the NDLR screen got all screwed up and now the drone and pad position indicators on the top of the screen are missing and none of the parts seem to play.  I tried to flash with the latest beta firmware but still the same issue as before the update.  Any ideas?

EDIT: read the manual and realized there was a boot menu with factory reset... this corrected my issue. would be interesting to know what exactly happened though.
