Behringer launches their System 100 modules
Posted by: Darryl - 01-16-2020, 06:10 PM - Forum: Synths and Gear News, Discussion - Replies (1)

Dang, sounds so good... must resist the modular...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpiNPOiP...e=youtu.be

Clone of Roland System 100M. They've said in the past that the modules will be $50 to $100 USD. I'd just get the whole kit in a skiff if they make it available that way.

TouchOSC Control - Midi CCs to Controls LFOs?
Posted by: Scotty_123 - 01-16-2020, 09:10 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (2)

I have started to make a TouchOSC template to control the ndlr. TouchOSC is a powerful tool for creating custom control templates for midi gear ... somewhat like the Lemur but you use your IOS or Android device.  When it is completed I'll post it here.  YOu would just need the TouchOSC app which is under $10.00 last time I checked. I've made a lot of control templates for my studio gear.

Question: Midi Control (beside what is in listed in the manual,  what else can be controlled?)

1.   Are the Modulation  / LFO parameters  (where you select the LFOs sources and destinations and associated parameters) available for external midi control (Midi CCs or Note values or Sysex strings)?
2.   Is the Chord Sequencer controllable via midi control (meaning selecting the Load and Save , Duration, Sections, Song Structure etc) - Midi CCs or Note Values or Sysex strings?

The photos below is from my control template for the Plugiattor Synth just to give you an example of what is possible.

If you set it up properly with your hardware you can get full parameter feedback so that it updates in real time giving you give two way control and feedback... It is just a control device it isn't a sequencer.  With some thoughtful design you can give the the gear some additional functionality such as assigning xy pads to variables so you could sweep say the pad position and range. It can't do magic... the midi specification for the unit you want to control has to be available.

Trying to post a photo for clarity but the forum isn't allowing it.

Screen gone Black after Firmware Update - Solved
Posted by: Scotty_123 - 01-15-2020, 02:38 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (14)

I was installing the latest firmware 1.063... pressed the firmware update button the - the  screen went black and never turned on...

Solved -  Loaded Teensy Again ... ran the process (pressed FW button again) and it took this time and the screen woke up... happy camper. Showing expected firmware.

Suggest that you add this to the firmware instructions  - that if it appears to have failed not to panic... run the process a 2nd or 3rd time for the benefit of fragile souls like myself.

NDLR not being received by Doepfer A190-4

Have tried several times to get my A190-4 to work with NDLR, but currently no joy.  I’ll keep trying (and make sure the transmission channels are all tested and post any updates on progress.

  Gates and modular integration
Posted by: oscarthesquirrel - 01-15-2020, 02:23 AM - Forum: Feature Requests - Replies (5)

Firstly let me say how much I love the NDLR. Great concept, well implemented.

I know there have been several posts re: gate control, however on a more general note I’d like to see a simple gate output on each note change.  If this could be toggled on-off in the menu (ie transmit gate ON/OFF) and then transmitted in the Midi stream, then integration with a modular system would be achievable, even at a basic level.

I agree that control of gate length is the next desirable step (ref other posts) , but just a simple gate trigger for now would be a huge positive.

Cheers,
Steve

NDLR not recieving midi clock from FORCE
Posted by: nosebleed - 01-14-2020, 05:09 PM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (8)

I have experience with midi and syncing hardware, and I tried all the logical settings, but my NDLR doesn't recognize the midi clock from akai Force.
MPC force midi clock out-----} NDLR midi din input B , clock external.

I tried usb ndlr clock out, but doubles the timing on the force.

NDLR MIDI routing in Logic Pro X?
Posted by: pizzihaga - 01-14-2020, 02:23 PM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (5)

Dear fellow NDLRers! Ive just received my NDLR and while Im temporary away from my hardware synths I decided to test it with software synths in Logic. Perhaps Im doing something wrong since Im not super familiar with this DAW, but I cant seem to make Logic play four different parts coming from NDLR (drone, pad, motif1, motif2) via 4 different software instruments using different sounds/synths for each instrument.

Whenever I add 4 software instruments and start noodling - all NDLR parts (drone, pad, motif1, motif2) play with only 1 sound at a time, although Im allocating different sounds (synths) for each part in Logic. Yes, Im allocating each synth its own MIDI channel (I set up the same in NDLR setup), but this still doesnt help. Looks like I need to somehow allocate the corresponding virtual USB ports in Logic, but this doesnt seem to be a straightforward procedure.

Anyway, if anyone knows how to set up Logic to work with 4 virtual USB ports and to play 4 different synth parts for every part coming from NDLR - please share this knowledge. Perhaps there's a YouTube video or a web article somewhere for that, but I cant find it.

Thanks!

Motif 2 playing too high notes
Posted by: LiquidSpaceman - 01-14-2020, 01:55 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (17)

Hi

I'm really enjoying my NDLR!

However I'm having a weird issue with motif 2 starting of at a way too high pitch. The behavior I'm seeing:

  1. Only motif 2 does this.
  2. It starts at what seems to be the highest possible octave.
  3. I can't really hear if it's playing different notes up in this octave.
  4. After some time (10-30 seconds) the played notes seem to quickly move down to the note range I expect from the settings.
  5. All of this only happens if I start all parts at once (using the upper left button).
  6. If I start motif 2 alone, there's no problems. If I start any or all of the other parts first, and then motif 2, then there's no problem.
  7. It doesn't seem to matter at what position I decide to put motif 2 in before it's started.
Updating (from 1.1.060) to 1.1.063 today didn't resolve the issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

And let me know if you need any further details.

All the best,
Thomas

Issues with Paint Coming off the ndlr
Posted by: Scotty_123 - 01-14-2020, 11:27 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (11)

My Ndlr is a couple of weeks old... the label  at the bottom is flaking off just below the PAD, DONE 1 MOTIF 2 Buttons.    It has only been lightly used the rest of the paint is fine.  Can I do anything about this?
