  esi m4u xl
Posted by: crx091081gb - 09-19-2021, 06:34 AM - Forum: Hardware MIDI Connectivity - Replies (2)

I have two esi m4u-xl's that I use(d) to route all my synths in and and out of my pc. Now that I've got the MRCC I was wondering if I could use them in the usb host ports. They're midi class compliant but only input and output ports 1 out of the 4 work when I plug them into the MRCC. Any chance this might change in a future firmware update or is this a limitation of the hardware?

Atari only works on midi input 3
Posted by: crx091081gb - 09-19-2021, 06:31 AM - Forum: Hardware MIDI Connectivity - Replies (1)

I have an Atari I like to sequence off, the MRCC only lights up as receiving midi data when I plug it into input 3, none of the other inputs seem to like it. Any ideas why? I mean it works but its a bit weird. I've tried a few different cables, they all seem to work fine when I plug my midi controller in directly to the other inputs. Sorta stumped...

  Polychaining in Cubase
Posted by: maguera - 09-19-2021, 03:09 AM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (1)

Hi everyone,

I had a bit of trouble in getting the Polychaining function to work in Cubase. Since it isn't super straightforward, I will write below how to set it up correctly.

To tell Cubase what Midi Channel to listen to you need to filter out all other Midi Channels.
- This is done via the Input Transformer (on the far right at the top of the instrument Inspector see picture)
- Select Local
- Here you can either choose a "Channel Filtering" preset or create a new "Filter" (see picture)
- This has to be done with all the tracks you want to use the polychaining with.
- for the NDLR midi settings it's good to have the Pad on Channel 4, outputting Ch 4-5-6-7
- In Cubase you can leave "All MIDI Inputs" or choose the NDLR midi port. It doesn't matter unless you have other devices sending on channels 4-5-6-7.

It is a bit cumbersome but it's the only way I found to make it work.
I created track archives of certain instruments that I use the Polychaining function with. In this way when I load them in the project they are already set up correctly and it saves me some time.

I hope this helps Smile

  USB hubs
Posted by: ilmai - 09-16-2021, 01:21 PM - Forum: Hardware MIDI Connectivity - No Replies

I wanted to try how MRCC would react to plugging in a USB hub, and I have to say I was surprised. I have two devices plugged to the hub, which in turn is plugged to USB A. MRCC is seeing those as being plugged to USB ports A and B. Nothing is physically plugged to port B.

Bug or feature?

Not a question, but turns out the included desktop legs are also perfect for wall mounting:

Novation Circuit clock drift when using just TRS output from MRCC
Posted by: betaunits - 09-15-2021, 09:37 AM - Forum: Hardware MIDI Connectivity - Replies (1)

I was having sort of random clock drifting / de-syncing of my Novation Circuit when trying to feed it straight TRS 3.5mm from the MRCC (output 12 B). The Circuit clock would start falling behind at seemingly random times. Restarting the master clock fixes the problem temporarily. Reverting to DIN into Novation adapter eliminated the problem altogether. Jammed for 3 hours last night with no drift. The TRS cable I was using is a 1010 Music patch cable which I assumed should be just fine. Not sure what the problem really is but is this something that happens with inferior cables or is it possibly something else directly related to the Circuit specifically?

  OP-1
Posted by: Julien STG - 09-12-2021, 08:59 PM - Forum: Hardware MIDI Connectivity - Replies (11)

Hi, I tried connecting the OP-1 to the usb of the MRCC and set the OP-1 to sync, which should allow the OP-1 to listen to clock and transport. However, nothing happens, as if the OP-1 wasn't connected. Can the MRCC act as a USB host for the OP-1? Is there something I do wrong?
(Note, the main controller is the Octatrack connected in the MRCC midi din ~ none of my elektron boxes work with MRCC usb but work fine with midi din)  Thanks

  Nektar SE25

Hey folks,

Has anyone tested if the Nektar SE25 keyboard works plugged into MRCC? It should be class compliant but I would rather be sure than take the chance...

Question Loss of pad depth with the 7th
Posted by: wildwildmike - 09-08-2021, 08:20 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (2)

On the NDLR, I seem to experience a loss of the depth (breadth?) in my pads when I trigger the 7th degree of my scale. I have inversion on, and regardless of my pad range settings, the 7th degree feels hollow and empty. Is there a way to get depth back into my pads?
Can I assign ranges per voice (if I'm using the P-Chains)? Are my progressions just bunk and that's why the lower notes are filtered away when I trigger the 7th?
Would love to know. Glowing reviews otherwise.

  Velocity Modifier questions
Posted by: oldgearguy - 09-05-2021, 10:00 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (1)

Trying to use the Velocity Modifier and have a bunch of questions.
Firmware - v1.1.032

Going into the MODS screen, VEL SCALE and I don't know which line/values is input and which is output.
Is it blue or red?  Manual doesn't say.  The ordering of the text and Tab stops implies it, but no where does it say anything definite.

OK, if I adjust the number in the lower right quadrant and scroll past 127, the number in the upper right quadrant goes negative (usually -128)
If I tab to that number I can turn the encoder to the right and it gets less negative.  As soon as I turn the encoder left, it jumps to 1 and all 4 numbers behave normally at that point.
NOTE - this only seems to happen when the number in the upper right is at 127.

There's an esoteric case I could make for having the output scale to 0 (note off) rather than having everything bottom out at 1, but I'm guessing that's a losing battle.
