Sequencing multiple HW synths on 1 MIDI channel in Ableton
Posted by: QuattroP - 11-18-2021, 02:04 PM - Forum: Computer MIDI Connectivity - Replies (3)

Hi,

I'm wondering if there's any way to sequence multiple hardware synths from Ableton via MRCC on one MIDI channel. I have the PC port routed towards the synths, and in Ableton all the MIDI tracks are routed to MRCC. Can i get away with sequencing multiple synths with separate MIDI information without going into MIDI channel configuration? I cannot say I fully comprehend the virtual ports and if they can be utilised for this in any way.

Thanks!!

Is there a way to create a filter that converts note data to CC?
Posted by: TheKillerBeeRelayTeam - 11-17-2021, 10:17 AM - Forum: MRCC Advanced Configuration - Replies (2)

Long story short, I want to take the midi note data from my other gear, run it through the MRCC and back out to my Roland TR8s to control the pitch/tune of (any) one of the instrument channels.

From the MIDI data sheet and a whole bunch of RTFMing, the Tr8s only accepts CC data for pitch changes since the note data triggers the drums like most drum machines.

Is there a filter option that can do this sort of thing that I have missed in the MRCC manual?

Lightbulb CC modifier - crossfader
Posted by: User - 11-16-2021, 07:20 AM - Forum: MRCC Feature Requests - No Replies

It could be great to have crossfader modifier. It could fade in one CC value and fade out other CC value the same time. Using one physical knob you could change two settings at once (second in reverse way), for example:
- smooth change between two instruments playing the sequence - typical volume crossfade
- change between two values, for example LFO speed and cutoff or - nice sound morphing
- mixer channels crossfade - for example bluebox for two channels
- anything else you can imagine Wink

  Remote 7 ports
Posted by: Raphie - 11-15-2021, 05:01 AM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (2)

Quick question:
Is the Rem 7 7 ports: 5midi + 2 jack ports (either A or B)
Or 5 ports: (where 2 midi ports shared with jack)

According to the print on the rem 7 it seems 5?

Lightbulb Port Filtering - add midi channel?
Posted by: User - 11-10-2021, 02:53 PM - Forum: MRCC Feature Requests - Replies (6)

Maybe I shouldn't take care of that, but I have just idea to reduce of "flying" midi commands to output devices. Some of gears use only one, or two input channels. As there is input/output filtering for CC/Note/Clock etc comments, it could be useful (for "cleaning" / optimize reason) to select active midi channel(s) and all different that defined will be ignored.

Now if i allow routing from my sequencer (for example 4 channels CH1-CH4) to all synths, this will send every midi commands to each of them, for all channels. If I define that my synth on OUT1 use only CH1 then all commands sent to CH2, CH3, CH4 will be ignored on OUT1.

Lightbulb Channel mod - route to all channels
Posted by: User - 11-10-2021, 02:41 PM - Forum: MRCC Feature Requests - No Replies

Hello,

I have request to add possibility to send CC from one channel to all channels. No, I don't want to flood by CC messages, but it will allow to use one USB controller to all synths - not the same time, but only if I select routing between them. For example:

- I have midi USB controller - it allow me to modify single of few CC. It send commands on one, specified channel. I can't change it without computer. For this example it's CH16. It send CC command, for example Cutoff.
- I have (for example) 5 synths, on connected to different midi ports/outs. All synths works on different midi channel (for example OUT1 - CH1, OUT2 - CH2, OUT3 - CH3, OUT4 - CH4, OUT5 - CH5).

If i create routing between USB controller and all 1-5 OUTS then none of them will respond for CC command, because CC message is on CH16.
I can't create one rule that will send everything from CH16 to CH1, CH2, CH3, CH4, CH5, because this modifier allow only for one the same input channel. I don't want to "lose" all Channel modifiers for that, because it's very limited.

So if I could copy everything from CH16 to all channels, then i could turn on/off routing between USB-OUT1-5 on the fly and can use one controller for different synths, or even control few of them the same time.

We could also reduce of midi messages in other way, i just got and another idea and I'll post in in new thread.

Question Do you need this MRCC accessory?
Posted by: Darryl - 11-10-2021, 02:04 PM - Forum: MRCC Feature Requests - Replies (38)

We've just ordered samples of this accessory for testing and want to gauge interest to help us decide how many to make. Its a 4 DIN input and 1 DIN output expander for MRCC. It uses an MRCC USB host port, and each DIN port is automatically connected to the USB host port's 4 ins and 1 out USB virtual MIDI ports. An MRCC can host 4 of these, if you don't mind giving up the USB host ports.

You could use a short USB cable to have it close to MRCC, or a longer cable to get it to where you need more I/O. USB 2.0 has a cable limit of about 5 meters, or you could use an active USB extension cable and go further.

Besides acting as a DIN (and 3.5mm type A jack) expander for MRCC, it can be used with your PC as a 4 in to 1 out MIDI interface. Or, use it as a USB powered 4 to 1 MIDI merger.

The street price will be in the ballpark of $80 USD, but we haven't bottomed out on the full cost yet so it could go up or down a bit.

We've had a fairly high attached rate for the Remote 7 to add outputs. Would this be just as interesting? Do you need it? Please comment below   Smile

Hello,
I would like to order the MRCC to Germany.
Can someone tell me please what is the "best"

Which of the 4 offers should I use? (HK? UPS?)

Best regards
