Digitakt + NDLR + V3 Sound Grand Piano XXL
Posted by: fluxus - 10-22-2020, 05:13 AM - Forum: Show me what you got! - No Replies

... here's a link to my first completed track using the V3 Sound Grand Piano XXL.  The V3 is controlled by NDLR with Pad: Horns, Drone: Piano, Motif1+2: Piano.  Digitakt provides electronic backing.  Enjoy :-)

Tutorial on using the NDLR with the Deluge
Posted by: synthdad - 10-22-2020, 04:01 AM - Forum: Show me what you got! - Replies (2)

Hi everyone, I made this tutorial video to explain how I pair the NDLR with the Deluge.

I explain how to map MIDI from the NDLR on to the Deluge synths, how to use the NDLR LFOs to modulate internal parameters, how to modulate Deluge synth parameters using the NDLR LFOs and how to sequence the NDLR from the Deluge. It was a lot of fun exploring putting these two together!

Change to CC 26 to add "the latest played chord degree"
Posted by: giacecco - 10-21-2020, 12:39 AM - Forum: Feature Requests - No Replies

To support better automation from a DAW, please change the range of CC 26 by adding the value of "8" to represent "the latest played chord degree".

The use case for this is the following: imagine you're improvising using a combination of NDLR and DAW. You want to trigger some automation in the DAW that - wherever you are in your music - re-starts the drone without needing to remember what is the latest chord degree you were playing, so you just send a CC 26 of 8, and whatever that was it is triggered again, and the drone starts.

This idea is originated by what looked like an automation issue to me originally, described here.

Thanks!

G.

Load and save global settings with MIDI
Posted by: giacecco - 10-20-2020, 06:45 AM - Forum: Feature Requests - No Replies

Hi All, I've searched the forum and I haven't found anything about this.

When using NDLR from a DAW, how useful would it be if the NDLR could load and save its entire global settings with MIDI CCs? In most cases this would be more convenient than programming the individual changes for the parameters using, for example, a DAW's automation.

E.g. I'm working on a piece where the pad does a "solo" at some point where position, strum and range all change, to feel more improvised. At the moment I am manually loading the new global settings when it's time, but it may be much more convenient to trigger the same from the DAW.

Thanks!

  [SOLVED] Odd quantization of drone
Posted by: giacecco - 10-20-2020, 04:36 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (1)

Hi All,
I'm learning controlling NDLR's parts by using MIDI messages in Bitwig Studio.

I've observed something I cannot explain: starting the drone seems to take effect from the next clock "phrase", like if it was quantized, but stopping it has immediate effect.

In the image below you see the "NDLR control" track's notes and automation. The notes change the chords of course. The automation sends the MIDI CC 86 message, to start (up) and stop (down) the drone.

NDLR's settings seem to say that quantization applies to the pads only, besides, I've turned it off. Any ideas? Firmware is 1.1.066, thanks!

  Eurorack version of NDLR
Posted by: giacecco - 10-20-2020, 12:49 AM - Forum: Feature Requests - No Replies

Hi All, I've been following the conversation around using NDLR with modular, as I need that too... https://conductivelabs.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=659 ... until I've realised that the obvious thing to do would be to ask Conductive Labs to make a modular Eurorack version of NDLR in the first place! ?

This would not be an uncommon choice. Empress for example is preparing to release a modular version of Zoia called "Euroburo" https://www.synthanatomy.com/2020/04/emp...mpler.html .

I realise that CV control would be messy. Each of the encoders would still need to find a place on the module plate + need to transform of as many input CVs as they control (19?), + gates for starting and stopping the four instruments... however it could also be simplified by dropping all modulation, as that could be easily be provided by external LFO, envelope modules etc.

It's very easy to me to imagine modular musicians to build their entire rack around such a NDLR. Is it just me?

[ALMOST SOLVED] 6x time the external clock?
Posted by: giacecco - 10-19-2020, 10:48 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (3)

Hi All, I am learning the NDLR and I am loving it this far.

Something I cannot explain myself since I got the device is the following: I am getting the clock over USB from Bitwig Studio, and the NLDR is behaving fine, but the NDLR screen shows 6 times the value! (without going 6x faster). Both the DAW and the NDLR are set for 24 PPQ / FP (besides, the ClkInPPQ cannot be changed in NDLR).

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Wish I found this before ordering from US. Still awaiting delivery and the import tax will probably make it pricier.
