Lightbulb CC to Program Change Mod
Posted by: User - 05-17-2022, 09:59 AM - Forum: MRCC Feature Requests - Replies (8)

It's simple - many many controllers can't send Program Change messages, or allow to send single value. If we could change CC into Program Change, then it could be possible to change synth's preset by one knob. I have few synths where it's not easy to change preset quickly (jam, for example) like Modal Craft, Skulpt, where two hands are necessary to do that (and it's quite complicated and takes too long time).

Another idea is to change single key press (for example pad) into increment/decrement program change. For example if i sent CC 1 value 1 then it will increment Program Change number, and when CC 1 value 10 then decrement Program Change (every time when pressed).

Torso T1: MIDI Clock sync problem with USB MIDI
Posted by: starfish - 05-14-2022, 04:36 PM - Forum: Hardware MIDI Connectivity - Replies (10)

I have an Elektron Syntakt connected via 5-pin MIDI to MRCC and a Torso T1 connected via USB MIDI. I want to use Syntakt as tempo leader and the T1 as follower.

When I send the Syntakt MIDI Clock/Transport via MRCC to the T1 (USB) MIDI In, the T1 starts to play when I start the Syntakt, but the T1 Play and Step LEDs are flickering and tempo is way off. Looks like the T1 is being started and stopped at a high frequency.

When I send the MIDI Clock from the Syntakt to the TRS MIDI In of the T1, sync works perfectly. Also T1 users report that they are using tempo following via MIDI USB in other configurations without any issues.

That means that MRCC's USB MIDI implementation causes this problem with the T1.
Any ideas? I filtered all data types apart from Clock and Start/Stop in MRCC but that didn't help.

pc port/monitoring with mac midi monitor
Posted by: Nelson Baboon - 05-10-2022, 05:58 PM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (5)

I tend to post embarrassingly simple question i think because i'm set in my ways, and then after a couple of years i try using a device in a different way.....

the mrcc (2 of them) has just worked flawlessly for me once i figured it out. I just use it.

but one thing that i have rarely done in my work flow is use midi clock to sync devices together. I'm not trying to figure out whether start/stop commands are being sent correctly through the mrcc. it's more complicated than that, since i'm setting up both connected devices to use clock, when normally i haven't. So this is all kind of new, but i think i understand midi and the basics of the mrcc.

circumstantial evidence thus far is that clock is working fine through the mrcc, but the start/stop commands are not - i'm guessing that because a direct midi cable between the 2 devices seems to make use of the midi start/stop, but going through the mrcc seems to sync the devices, but not start/stop the slave.  I thought I'd look at my midi monitor on the mac to see how the commands were coming in. hmmmm. am I going about this wrong? I hold the pc port out, and then press output 1 (i suppose i could press any of them for this purpose - it's just to monitor it). in any case, the midi monitor shows no clock at all. hmmm. the 3 to p01 routing page doesn't seem to show anything filtered....

what am i missing? i know that back when i used more daw midi throughput, i'd see clock commands on the midi monitor, so i'm suspecting that i have just forgotten something basic here.

thanks. hoping the question is dumb (= basic) and solved quickly.

Computer Port Names are now "MRCC" only
Posted by: Joris Röling - 05-07-2022, 01:28 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (9)

Latest FW (1.1.052) seems to change the way the MIDI ports in the computer are named.

Now ALL the ports are named "MRCC", where the previous version named them "MRCC Port #" (where # is port number)

Some software seem to be able to deal with that (doing their own suffix to distinguish them) (Bitwig & Ableton).
Some other software is now confused (unusable), as it expects a unique name per port.

Could we please have the old naming scheme back?

Best,
Joris

  Any mioXL users out there?
Posted by: vitaminman12 - 05-06-2022, 08:15 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (2)

Hi everyone,

First time poster.

I'm looking to beef up my synth setup; I have an ageing Midisport 8x8 which has very limited programmability and want to replace it.

After some internal debate, I've decided to not go down the THRU box / MERGE box path and rather go for something more robust.

My last two choices are a toss up between the MRCC and mioXL. The price difference is negligible.

Does anyone here have experience with the mioXL and can comment on it in relation to the MRCC? For example, a huge plus for the MRCC is that I can initiate manual routes from the buttons; I don't think I can do that with the mioXL.

Thanks,

Nick

Question How do I remotely change the arpegiator for a given instrument?
Posted by: User - 05-02-2022, 12:48 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (6)

I would like to remotely (with an external controller) turn on / off the arpegiator for the instrument. Doing it from the menu is a bit annoying and rather unsuitable for changing while playing live. I tried to do it, but I fail. Let's assume that I have this configuration:

MIDI INPUT 1 - MIDI controller - can send any signals to any channel to:
MIDI OUTPUT 1 - synthesizer 1, listening on channel 1
MIDI OUTPUT 2 - synthesizer 2, listening on channel 2

MRCC configuration:
Routing INPUT 1 -> OUTPUT 1, OUTPUT 2 (I don't remember if there must be routing if ARP is turned on)

ARP1
source: port 1, CH1
destination: output 1, channel 1

ARP2
source: port 1, CH2
destination: output 2, channel2

Now what should I send (channel, CC, value?) From the controller so that the ARP type for synthesizer 1 changes?

And similarly for the synthesizer 2.

SOLVED - NDLR won't turn on after booting mode
Posted by: docjfnoel - 05-02-2022, 10:19 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (1)

Hello,
I just wanted to change some settings in boot mode (menu + shift when plugging in usb), and then after pressing panic button to exit, NDLR won't turn on again.
Boot screen comes up, then screen turns black.
I tried to factory reset with no help.
Did I brick my NDLR??

Thanks

Ok, after "Factory reset" the right way it came back...

In the boot menu mode I was pressing the "Pad knob" (first upper left encoder) and not the "Pad button" (first white button at bottom left) to Factory Reset...After pressing the right button it came back right.

I still don't know what went wrong the first time though....

  MRCC prog change bug?

I'm sending prog changes from DIN1 on channel 16 and selecting MRCC presets. The preset number on the activity screens corrupts.

Hi,
I want to convert MIDI CC parameters from Faderfox MX12 (MIDI din input) to Allen heath QU SB (MIDI USB) effects parameters (NRPN hex). MRCC could do the job ?
Thanks

  Strange Web Problem
Posted by: Thark - 04-16-2022, 07:25 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (2)

This isn't to do with the NDLR directly but rather this web page. I generally check every morning for new messages and do a quick scan of each NDLR area. This is on my iPad while slurping coffee. The other day I noticed that the "NDLR Librarian API" was missing however ... later I checked on my desktop and it's there. Back to the iPad ... not there!

Has there been some change to the web page recently that would do this?

Keith
