  Open Source Firmware?
Posted by: benstat - 06-24-2022, 12:11 AM - Forum: MRCC Feature Requests - Replies (6)

Hi all,

Having been a software developer for more years than I care to mention, I find myself wanting to tweak the MRCC firmware (and NDLR too), and potentially submit bug fixes and improvements.

I realize it's a bit of an unusual, niche request, but there are a lot of us software devs around, and we just can't help ourselves sometimes! It's also something that other, small manufacturers have done in the past (eg. Electra One, Norns, etc).

Not much to lose really, unless of course there are trade secrets buried in the code. Wouldn't take long to share the source via GitHub, and then approve/decline push requests from outsiders once in a while.

Just something to consider that could potentially benefit everybody.

Keep up the good work!

Many thanks,
Ben

  I love the MRCC
Posted by: Jeremiah - 06-20-2022, 12:32 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (1)

Hello, I'm just a home hobbyist, but of long-standing going way back to cassette-based 4-track recording. DAWs like Voyetra Digital Orchestrator on 5 inch floppies and then 3 inch floppies. Now with Ableton Live.

Only people of a certain age will know what that refers to.

I've been fortunate to recently update with some nice hardware synths.

And your MRCC MIDI Router Control Center which is like a dream come true.

To be sure, I'm only doing the most basic stuff, but it works great!

Thanks!

  NDLR Cntl and KB Trans
Posted by: racecube - 06-20-2022, 04:49 AM - Forum: Advanced Features - Replies (14)

I really don´t understand how these settings work!

In another Thread someone explained it with a Arturia Keystep: Both (NDLR Cntl and KB Trans) set on the same Midi Ch and you can switch your synths to every scale you like but the NDLR will change its chords on the white keys of C major. That is how I understand it, but it does not work: If I put both to 16 I can´t change any chord via my keyboard, If I put NDLR Cntl to 15 and KB Trans to 16, I can change NDLR chords with my keyboard on CH 15.

In the above thread there was a link to YT video that should clear it up - it was no help, just a pretty NDLR session on a Keystep and a Blofeld. A tutorial video would help a lot !!

Another thing is the completely undocumented feature under SHIFT MENU ENC 2: Rotation Algorithm, it was asked for help in another thread a while ago and nothing happened. Users seem still trying to sort it out but are left in a foggy forest. (The KB Trans MIDI CH is mentioned on that menu point as well by the way)

The NDLR beta firmware 1.1.079 is meanwhile 3 years old and still a beta, this tells a lot I think, are you guys only working on the MRCC any more? (..or on new forum skins ;-)

I had great hardware support a while ago and I think the NDLR is still an awesome device, but I am a bit disappointed.

I won´t ask for features or improvements any longer, but: A VIDEO ABOUT NDLR Cntl and KB Trans WOULD REALLY BE APPRECIATED !

Is there a way to filter clock out or Remote Outs
Posted by: The Puppeteer - 06-19-2022, 09:20 PM - Forum: MRCC Advanced Configuration - Replies (1)

I have a Kawai R100 connected up to Remote Out 3, and I want to stop clock being sent to it.  Is there a way to do this.  I can't find the Remote7 outputs on the Output Filters. My Remote7 is set up as Remote 1-5 on the settings page.

  Prog change 000 or 001?
Posted by: Stratblue - 06-18-2022, 07:46 AM - Forum: MRCC Feature Requests - No Replies

Hi.

Some of my kit starts its program numbering at 0, the rest starts at 1 it would be cool if there was some sort of on/off transform function to compensate for this so that when I send PC 001 from the sequencer it loads PC 001 in everything.

Thanks.

  MRCC Pre-purchase Questions
Posted by: ekkomouse - 06-16-2022, 06:15 AM - Forum: Hardware MIDI Connectivity - Replies (5)

  1. Does the mrcc have the ability to remap poly aftertouch to channel pressure and vice versa? trying to fix an issue with a synth reading only one or the other from various midi controllers.
  2. Will it pass through, besides sending the MIDI data, is also transmitting - CDC (serial) and Raw HID. Related to use with Polyend Play see link: https://help.polyend.com/431975-My-iConnectivity-MIDI-USB-hub-is-not-recognising-my-Polyend-instrument-why
  3. When interfacing with the computer, am I able to name the inputs and outputs on the MRCC device and the names will show up in audio/midi setup on Mac, therefore being passed onto DAW's?
  4. Am I able to setup an RTP Midi network? Not so important but coming from MioXL where I have one device working through RTP currently
  5. Does the device allow for connection to iOS/iPad midi devices? I plan to add an iPad on next update, not as familiar with how these will interface
  6. On virtual inputs on host USB ports, does that mean we can plug a USB hub for access to the 4 inputs? Read FAQ and it says not really, I'm trying to understand how the 4 virtual inputs per host port work, maybe get an example use case?
  7. Can the MRCC receive midi clock from a connected device then translate or sync its internal clock to send the same clock out of its cv clock output?
  8. If I need to expand with a second unit, would I configure advanced functions from one screen or from both separately?
  9. Will the virtual midi ports seen by a Mac audio/midi setup be available to route software and be viewed as additional input/outputs on the device for various saved routings? Example currently is I have to use midi input/output in settings on Komplete kontrol keyboard software to translate incoming MPE from a roli seaboard to get it to send the Roli to other external synths, currently routed through a MidXL, the Komplete kontrol is receiving from itself, the roli and a polyend play to route to other devices without opening a DAW.
I know its a lot of questions, if anyone can answer one or two, I appreciate everyone's time.  Probably ordering one anyway to test but would be nice to know these in advance.
  10. Can I use a basic trs mini cable to transmit trs midi from one device to trs midi on the MRCC? Any special cable requirements for type a vs b? Use case is a launchpad type controller with trs output going direct to trs input without those trs to midi converter cables.

Keyboard split to different MIDI channels
Posted by: DJISF - 06-15-2022, 10:03 AM - Forum: Hardware MIDI Connectivity - Replies (3)

Hello! I'm getting an SP404 Mk2, and its MIDI implementation is a bit odd. Each bank on the SP404 Mk2 responds to the same 16 MIDI notes, but on a different MIDI channel. I was wondering if I could use the keyboard split feature to get access to more banks using one MIDI channel. Any ideas on how I would achieve this?

Thanks!

Can't load or save ANY preset anymore
Posted by: ttck - 06-14-2022, 02:11 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (7)

I discovered today that suddendly I can neither save nor load any preset on the MRCC.

I was on firmware 1.0.35 when this problem happened.

I upgraded to version 1.0.52 thinking it might fix the problem, but unfortunately not.

I removed the SD card from the MRCC (as recommended by Jesse in another thread) and mounted it on my Mac without problems.

I reinserted the card in the MRCC and tried saving and loading again but the problem remained.

I did a reset on the MRCC (during bootup) but despite the message on the screen, it did infact not delete neither the presets nor the saved user labels on the sd card.

I removed the card again, mounted it on my Mac and formatted it (in Fat16) using the SD card foundations official formatting app (https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter/).

I reinserted the card in the MRCC and tried saving and loading multiply times but the problem remains the same - I can't do neither.

I tried resetting the card once more during the MRCC booting up but again the contents were not cleared from the card.

It seems whatever I do the MRCC has no more access to the SD card.

I have no idea what else to do. I do love the MRCC and I wish it would just work like before...

  Connecting class-compliant MIDI interfaces?
Posted by: Lizard of Oz - 06-14-2022, 08:33 AM - Forum: Hardware MIDI Connectivity - Replies (2)

There's tons of inexpensive class-compliant MIDI interfaces with multiple inputs and outputs (e.g. the Nektar MIDIFLEX4, Miditech MIDIface 2x2 / 4x4 / 8x8, ESI M4U eX and M8U eX), which could be used to add MIDI DIN ports via the USB hub.

I found nothing in the Compatibility Tracker, has anyone successfully tried any of those with the MRCC?
