  Possible defective encoder?
Posted by: MPCman - 01-04-2023, 02:41 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (2)

Hi and happy new year!

Some time ago I decided I wanted to get myself a NDLR. I would have opted for a brand new one if that was available, but had to go for a used one. After spending some time with it, it looks like one of the endless encoders is not working how it's supposed to. I've just updated the device to the latest firmware 1.1.079 and have factory resetted the device afterwards, after doing so I still see the behavior below:

The 2nd from the top on the left side of the device labeled 'Range Spread' doesn't allow me to scroll through all possible values. As example, if I hit the 'menu' button the encoder controls the midi channel and port for the Drone channel. By default is set to MIDI A, channel 3. If I normally turn the encoder one click in either direction, no change occurs. If I turn it very slowly and hold it in between clicks, the value changes to USB4, Channel 3 until I move it to the next click. If I turn the encoder very quickly, it will sometimes stick to that last mentioned value. When the encoder is assigned to other parameters, I see similar behavior.

Based on what I'm seeing (and have seen in the past with wonky endless rotary encoders), I have the impression that the encoder may be defective. Is there anything else I can try to further troubleshoot? If it ends up being a hardware defect, is this repairable?
Thanks for your response!

  NDLR for sale in UK
Posted by: Almost Aviation - 01-04-2023, 08:32 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (4)

(Hope it's okay to post this here, given the current 'unobtanium' status.)

I thought I'd sell my NDLR as I'm really not doing it justice. It seems better to offer it to someone here than on eBay. It's as new in original box. Serial no. 011-0281-1909, with firmware 1.1.063. Bought through the Indiegogo campaign in October 2019, but little-used. (I posted a few noodles in the forum if you want to search.) I'd prefer to sell to UK, but outside of that you need to beware that taxes/duties etc. are beyond my control. Asking price £300. Shipping at cost, according to buyer's preference.

Please contact by email (should be possible through my profile).

Brick Filtering 15 Midichannels
Posted by: Synthie-Fire - 01-04-2023, 01:03 AM - Forum: MRCC Advanced Configuration - Replies (2)

Hi,
how can i solve this problem:

On input-port 3 of the MRCC i got a squencer wich sends different sequences on all 16 Midichannels.Although i have a MIDI-Clock Signal on
input-port 1. On output-port 7 i have a drummachine wich receives on all 16 Midichannels. Every drumtrack ist fixed to a Midichannel
and can not be changed.I routed Input-Port 1 and 3 to output-port 7.I only want receive the clock-signal and Midichannel 11 from input-port
3 to the drummachine. The other tracks i want to play with the onboard Sequencer of the drummachine.
Hope you can help me :-).

  *SOLVED* Pad noise / glitchy
Posted by: FolkDub - 01-04-2023, 12:59 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (4)

Howdy friends ~

I didn't see this issue in search; I'm open to some diagnostic effort to solve.

NDLR (master clock) USB1---> A/mrcc --> DIN/Blofeld (module)

Also m-audio axiom49/USB --> D/mrcc
(Also 3 other hw synths (diff channels) on DIN/mrcc rec'v notes from NDLR)

when playing Blofeld as Pad (lfo moving position), with/without other parts playing, no other inputs, there is sporadic digital noise (a'la clipping or glitching).

voice limit? (No) Can play Blo w/ keys and press all of them with my arms.... No glitch.

Can reduce pad spread down to 1 note, still glitch. Strum has no impact to glitch.

Get this: pad may be *disarmed*, and play drone on same channel (Blo)... When moving *Pad* position (still disarmed), glitches on drone sound (no changes to drone part).

Get this: it doesn't happen on every blo preset. But I've found it on some Pad presets. But only w/ NDLR as input (not keys).

Haven't tried to capture midi traffic, but it seems like pad part is sending itchy data during position movement (lfo or manual).

Anything i should be looking out for?

  Troubleshooting - 2 MRCCs, midi clock, ?
Posted by: Nelson Baboon - 01-03-2023, 09:23 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (2)

And I apologize for the negativity of this post. As I mentioned to a friend, i wouldn't hate the MRCC so much, if i didn't love it so much. I have come to rely on it. Most of the time it is just second nature now. But then when there is an issue, there really aren't handy tools to troubleshoot it. I know that I, and others, have asked for, in various contexts - some kind of way to run a computer application and look at connections - in this particular case, i would want to get some clue as to what is failing and why.

Of course, when troubleshooting, one has to consider what was working 'yesterday' and what one has changed since then.

In this case, being reticent to spend more than the couple of hours i've already spent tonight, I have reached some tentative conclusions that i realize may be a misinterpretation or oversimplification of the symptoms.

I have 2 mrccs. They generally work great together. But what is happening tonight is that (forgive me if i forget the name of the mode) - the mode where you can see the outputs of the other mrcc, and then connect and disconnect them, becomes totally unresponsive. This (which i guess makes sense) seems to happen simultaneously on both of them Tonight, i am having to reboot the computer and also the mrccs (might be doing more than necessary here, but this is gentler than throwing the mrccs out the window. And i'm not endangering lives)

this was not happening yesterday. What did i change? The first of the changes doesn't seem to be the issue - i plugged in another usb device. But unplugging it had no affect on the issue at all.

the other was that I connected a clock device (S.N.D Acme 4) via a din connection. Everything seemed to work great, and still did when I sent clocks to a din connected sequencer on the other mrcc. Beautiful. But things started going astray (in retrospect) when I sent the clocks to a sequencer connected on the usb port of the other mrcc. Maybe just coincidence, but i have repeated that things crash when i send it clock, but then when i do not, no problem. I suppose that the solution is obvious (unless of course this is a mistaken diagnosis). The usb device, which until just now has worked great on the mrcc, is the Hapax sequencer.

I suppose that the general question is - have there been any issues with sending midi clock to a usb device on another mrcc?

Does this diagnosis make sense? I know that there are issues with how much power usb devices can take on a given mrcc, but in this case the thing has worked just great until now. And there is only one other usb device hooked up to that mrcc.

but yeah - the symptoms - the sync stops working, the interconnectivity mode stops working (neither mrcc seems to see the other) and the damn things then don't even fully reboot.

thanks.

It's been a really, really long time since I've pushed a "song" all the way through to the cloud.

Needless to say, I owe much of the inspiration to the NDLR ;; playing the Hydrasynth, Blofeld, and NanoBass, with a touch of MicroFreak, embellished live w/ MicroCosm, ME50B, SOMA Cosmos.

Performed DAWless, and multitrack recorded in Cubase. Touch of drums, snips, levels in DAW, but minimal.

  improve TEMPO indicator

Howdy Conductive Team!

per my other request: https://conductivelabs.com/forum/showthr...p?tid=2078

as I rely on ALL S/S to sync bar/beat LFOs, and want that to happen on the "1" count, I have to coordinate with a small and low-contrast blue dot. Is there a user desire (like mine) to have a more visible "1" count? Brighter/bigger flash region (for at least the "1") ?

Thanks! I appreciate you!

  Sync or Trigger LFO
Posted by: FolkDub - 12-29-2022, 12:02 PM - Forum: Feature Requests - No Replies

Howdy! Big NDLR fan (couple years, and new owner of MRCC)....

I'll promote an old "support" Q into 'Feature request' , and hope for some future traction. I can't appreciate what it would take to implement, but could appreciate the user experience improvement.

Consider bar/beat LFOs only, not time (s); NDLR as master clock:

Yes  - LFOs reset at ALL START/STOP, though, don't sync in any other use cases; such as - if part S/S individually (using diff LFOs) , or if LFO mod/assignment/parameter selected while playing.

Ideally (for me), if using divisible counts, say, 4' and 8' LFOs to change position and chord degree respectively, then when the chord changes (8'), the position will cycle as well (2nd time). Currently, I don't know a way to 'enforce' this sync w/o ALL S/S, which is rarely desirable (in my scenario). I would rather sync'd was the default (or at least "option"), than free-running. Instead - changes will be happening on random beats, when they should be beat-linked (I rarely use ALL S/S, in lieu of parts S/S).

ALL S/S is a 'workaround', but I'd love an option (or default) to sync LFOs.

A possible solution (or added request)- is to Trigger/Sync the LFO to the "1" beat (by default would be fine!). Then I'd be living my best life.

Present workaround - having to manually ALL S/S on the "1". This is undesireable, as my aging eyes can baaaaaarely see the "1" (blue) count on the TEMPO counter. (i sense a new feature request (TEMPO indicator) coming . . . ) .

Thanks for any thoughts on this . . .

  Ch Mod, first slot bug?
Posted by: oldgearguy - 12-29-2022, 04:54 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (1)

I noticed that on the new 068 OS, if I try to create a Channel Mod config, the first position only gives me the option of ch 1 or all.

Slots 2-4 allow me to select any of the other 15 channels as long as they haven't been mapped yet.

So basically there's no way to filter out channel 1 with a single Mod slot, which seems wrong.

  CC Absolute to Relative Conversion
Posted by: t_byrd - 12-23-2022, 03:03 PM - Forum: MRCC Feature Requests - Replies (3)

Hello,

New MRCC owner and really enjoying it so far! It has improved my studio workflow tremendously.

I'd like to request the option of a modifier that converts CC absolute values to relative values. I'm using an EC4 to control parameters on many devices and the parameters are jumping around. The EC4 has a relative option so this seems like a good solution, but all of my devices use absolute values so I need to convert the CC data somehow. I'm not sure if I could accomplish this using Ableton, I think the CC mode is global and wouldn't allow a relative input from the EC4 to an absolute output for my other devices. Also since the MRCC is handling all of my MIDI routing it'd be great if that could handle the task.

I don't think my use case is that particular and I would imagine this would be useful for many setups/controllers/etc.

One of the only solutions I have found so far is using Bome MIDI software - https://forum.bome.com/t/translating-abs...alues/1369

I'm open to suggestions for other ways to solve this issue. Not many of my synths use MIDI feedback so that's not an option.

Thanks for listening!
