Latest official firmware, tried this with 3 synths J6 (Roland), XFM (sonicware) JDXI (Roland) . At First I though the voices are "eaten" that is why I hooked up JDXI that has unlimited voices..

1. Turn on unit 
2. Make sure that the Pad channel is not modulated (turn all mods to 0%) and no song mode is engaged. 
3. Set the MIDI OUT to all or 1,2 whatever so you hear the synth. Use only PAD turn of Motifs and drone. 
4. Set the range to 5 voices 
5. Set the strum to slower so you can HEAR how many notes are played back
6. Set the Spread to 0 

All is nice in this mode, when you click any button to play a chord 5 notes plays back
7. Change the Spread to 1 
8. Play a few chords by clicking the clicky NDLR buttons   

Bug:
9. Not all 5 notes are played back. I would say that mode #3 root only + closed voicing would produce less than 5 notes played if you go out of range with the position knob. But mode #2,#5,#6 should play 5 notes back
10. If you have problem to reproduce, please turn on 7th chord type it'l get to this bug faster.

If this issue does not exists in lower version of firmware please point to me to one. I spent a few hours on this, reading forums, fresh manual and didn't know if I was doing something wrong but JDXI proved to me that this is most likely a bug 
My NDLR was collecting dust for 1-2 years , I hope it will not go back to that

This could be related to NDLR not sending Note OFF message on the Pad channel right ?


Also I noticed that even though I set the voices to 5 or 6 sometimes when you change the Spread the number of voices on the display changes up or down by one .

Would you please talk a bit about any consideration you've given to doing a NDLR VST.  NDLR is a great concept and implementation, with limitations of hardware that you could leave behind as a VST.  Being a lowly end-user, I don't know everything that goes into it, but it seems like most of the work is done.  What would the process look like, even in general, to get to VST?

Does anybody foresee any issues as MIDI 2.0 becomes a thing over time?

I was planning to use the clock from my Doepfer A-154 as the main clock to sync my NDLR, but the A-154 clock output voltage is around 10v, so that would be a no-go according to NLDR manual (max 5v).  I find it very surprising that Conductive labs choose to limit the accepted voltage to 5v, all the clock signal I have seems to be in the 10v range... it looks like a common clock voltage.

I don't want to take the chance of blowing up my NDLR clock input bu just trying it...  10v being a common clock voltage, is there a known workaround that is safe (safe being, not using an attenuator module and taking the chance of an accidental fatal twist of a knob)?  Maybe the schematics for a simple passive circuit (I'm not an electronic buff, but I guess I could put it together if it's simple enough)?

Newbie here.
I have a Keystep Pro connected to the NDLR.
NDLR Cntl and KB Trans are set to channel 13. Keystep is also set to 13.
Starting play on the Keystep causes the NDLR to run in the current chord. Any notes in the Keystep pattern or notes from the keyboard cause no change in the NDLR. Am I missing a step?

Is it  possible to connect a MRCC over ethernet to a Mac Host? Like the MioXL uses RTP-Midi?

Can we please look at renaming presets? I’m getting confused with all my different configs to the point where I need to make notes to remember
I.e

Preset -1 (DAW) > USB ports discretely mapped to synths for Cubase
Preset -2 (NDLR) > NDLR mapped to 4 synths via discrete USB channels 
Preset -3 (Oxi One) > all synths mapped to OXi One via 2 discrete USB channels 
Preset -4 (current ptoject jam config)
Etc.
Etc.

Would be great if we could just rename those presets to something that makes sense, using an USB keyboard for input like with the labels is just fine.

This way of generating rhythms has brought lots of fun times to many users of modular synths - and would be a great addition to the NDLR.
For Eucliean rhythms, you specify a note-value, a number of steps n, a number of triggers m<n, a "rotation" value r<(n-1) which determines the starting point in the generated rhythm and optionally a rest-probability. The algorithm then distributes the triggers among the steps according to the euclidean division algorithm and rotates by the given number of steps.

By modulating the number of trigs, the rotation value and even the number of steps, very interesting rhythms can be generated.

This would also be the cherry on top of the stochastic features proposed in my other recent feature-request.

Perhaps something like this feature already exists in a firmware I missed, but I don't remember seeing something like this:

The NDLR could benefit from being able to generate melodies in a way similar to the Eurorack module "Stochastic Inspiration Generator".
Here, you have twelve sliders, which have multiple functions. Primarily, they set the probability of a note occurring in the generated melody.
With further functions, you can set the predominantly played relative octave per note (from -2 to +2).

You additionally have potentiometers for the probability per note-duration, the global probability per octave, a "linearity" parameter that controls how likely the algorithm is to select adjacent notes (still weighted by the individual note-probability), a parameter each for the likelyhood of more ascending or descending steps, one for ratcheting probability, one for rest-probability (where first a note-duration is generated from the given probability-distrubtion, then a random binary note-or-rest value is generated from the set rest-probability), as well as "retroactive" loop controls, which capture the last 18 events and loops a selectable range of them.

Not all of these wonderful features would need to go into NDLR, though the main ones would be very lovely. I can imagine two modes where you either set the note-probabilities for absolute notes (where you'd have exactly twelve sliders/bars) or 5-12 for relative scale-degrees of pentatonic scales up to the chromatic scale.

The UI of the NDLR should be pretty well suited to implement such features - all the parts are there. Speaking as a software engineer, some of the algorithmic details here of course aren't trivial, but they're also not crazy complicated.

Would be an amazing added value IMO. I'm getting a lot out of the Stochastic Inspiration Generator in Eurorack - it's only disadvantage is the lack of easy transposition and modulation (you have to change all the sliders). NDLR could improve upon that with in-scale probabilities and its transposition/modulation capabilities.

I think this would make it one of the most formidable hardware generative sequencers on the market, if not *THE* most capable one. SIG would take that crown now because of its unparalleled fine-grained control over so many probabilistic parameters - were it not for the lack of in-scale transposition and simple modulation.

MRCC Firmware:MRCC_v1.1.071_03-08-2023

MIDI in from: Linnstrument or Hydrasynth Keyboard via USB

MIDI out to: Roland Integra 7 via MIDI DIN


When using the MRCC I've been having issues with inappropriate sustain messages being sent to my Roland Integra 7.

This happens when using either my Linnstrument or Hydrasynth connected to the MRCC via USB.  It doesn't happen necessarily happen right away, but once it happens on a specific note all subsequent triggerings of that note have the same inappropriate sustain.

When I connect the same MIDI DIN cable to the Integra 7 directly I get no such behavior.

This is  seems really odd, particularly the fact that it doesn't happen right away and it's not always the same otes.

Any ideas what might be going on here?
