  MRCC/computer performance ok?
Posted by: oldgearguy - 11-30-2021, 04:40 AM - Forum: Computer MIDI Connectivity - Replies (2)

Looking at moving from external hw MIDI sequencer(s) to a computer (just for MIDI duties).
It seems to make sense to use the MRCCs connected directly to the USB ports on the computer and route everything in and out via the 12 virtual ports per MRCC.

Has anyone been doing that with heavy MIDI traffic and multiple virtual channels?
How has the performance been?  Latency/jitter through the MRCC been stable/good/excellent?
Any gotchas that slowed you up?

I know to a degree it depends on the DAW being used and the underlying hardware, but I'd still be interested in hearing any first-hand experiences.

thanks for any info.

Hi there.

has anyone had any success connecting a Line 6 Helix via USB through the MRCC?

Thanks.

Can't send sysex to my computer
Posted by: Stratblue - 11-26-2021, 09:09 AM - Forum: Computer MIDI Connectivity - Replies (4)

Hi there.

I'm trying to dump something via sysex. The donor is on input 1 and I have connected input 1 to PC output 1 of 12 and I have verified that the MRCC is seen as an interface on the computer running Linux Elementary OS Odin but nothing is coming through. I have done this successfully many times with other interfaces so I must have done something stupid, can anyone sort it out? I can see no sysex filters in the menus.

Thanks.

Pam clocking at 2x the BPM of NDLR all of a sudden?
Posted by: natehorn - 11-24-2021, 01:33 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (2)

So this is an odd one - and I'm not 100% sure where in the setup the issue is occuring but before I start pulling everything apart I thought I'd ask here if anyone has seen similar.

Seemingly all of a sudden my Eurorack is clocking at 2x the BPM of NDLR. I get MIDI in via a mmMidi and then that goes straight into Pam. Everything is set to 24ppq. However setting 70bpm on the NDLR now gives me 140bpm on Pam.

This wasn't an issue last week...

Anyone know how this could be happening?

Edit: Using the CV clk out gives me the correct 70BPM so this must be something in the MIDI chain - weird I can't work out what.... more investigation needed. Digitakt is getting the right BPM too. How on earth is my mmMidi suddenyl getting 2x the BPM that isn't even a feature it has.....

Ok so I think I worked this out although it doesn't make much sense to me. I use a Blokas Midi hub and I filtered out the clock on one of the mmMidi channels, and it seems to have resolved the issue - it's like it's summing the clocks from both midi channels rather than treating them as a shared BPM? WEIRD

I don't know why this suddenly became an issue today...

Yet another limit? Routes are maxed out at 43!
Posted by: Joris Röling - 11-20-2021, 07:11 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (8)

Hi ConductiveLabs,

I seem to have run out of routes! ( = IN (green) to OUT (blue) connections)
I did count my current routes and it seems that it is maxed out at 43?
After that, no more can be made?

Now I have to 'disconnect' another route before being able to 'connect' the one I want to make. This is not what I expected from a modern MIDI Router Control Center.

I do understand that everything has a limit, but it seems I have assumed that I could (on the MRCC) make a route from any IN to any OUT.

Unexpected and not documented anywhere as far as I know.

What say you?

Best,
Joris

PS I stumble across these MRCC limitations again and again (this routing limit, the unsupported SysEx on certain ports and the asymmetric USB IN-OUT ports) and a start to get annoyed with these a little. Wished the where communicated more clearly ahead of time.

  NDLR Drone
Posted by: branch3s - 11-19-2021, 10:49 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (3)

I've just received my NDLR, connected it to my external synths and it's working fine, except for the Drone, which plays a repeated note instead of a sustained single note that I want. I've tried all combinations from the User manual but I just can't find a setting for a sustained note. Could someone help me with this please.
Many thanks.

The Drone can be used to create a sustained or repeated note or tone-cluster

Sequencing multiple HW synths on 1 MIDI channel in Ableton
Posted by: QuattroP - 11-18-2021, 02:04 PM - Forum: Computer MIDI Connectivity - Replies (3)

Hi,

I'm wondering if there's any way to sequence multiple hardware synths from Ableton via MRCC on one MIDI channel. I have the PC port routed towards the synths, and in Ableton all the MIDI tracks are routed to MRCC. Can i get away with sequencing multiple synths with separate MIDI information without going into MIDI channel configuration? I cannot say I fully comprehend the virtual ports and if they can be utilised for this in any way.

Thanks!!

Is there a way to create a filter that converts note data to CC?
Posted by: TheKillerBeeRelayTeam - 11-17-2021, 10:17 AM - Forum: MRCC Advanced Configuration - Replies (2)

Long story short, I want to take the midi note data from my other gear, run it through the MRCC and back out to my Roland TR8s to control the pitch/tune of (any) one of the instrument channels.

From the MIDI data sheet and a whole bunch of RTFMing, the Tr8s only accepts CC data for pitch changes since the note data triggers the drums like most drum machines.

Is there a filter option that can do this sort of thing that I have missed in the MRCC manual?

Lightbulb CC modifier - crossfader
Posted by: User - 11-16-2021, 07:20 AM - Forum: MRCC Feature Requests - No Replies

It could be great to have crossfader modifier. It could fade in one CC value and fade out other CC value the same time. Using one physical knob you could change two settings at once (second in reverse way), for example:
- smooth change between two instruments playing the sequence - typical volume crossfade
- change between two values, for example LFO speed and cutoff or - nice sound morphing
- mixer channels crossfade - for example bluebox for two channels
- anything else you can imagine Wink

  Remote 7 ports
Posted by: Raphie - 11-15-2021, 05:01 AM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (2)

Quick question:
Is the Rem 7 7 ports: 5midi + 2 jack ports (either A or B)
Or 5 ports: (where 2 midi ports shared with jack)

According to the print on the rem 7 it seems 5?
