  Sustain pedal to send midi?
Posted by: Julien STG - 12-15-2021, 07:02 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (6)

Hi, would it be possible to connect a sustain pedal in one of the 1/8 jack and configure this input to have the pedal send a midi message (specifically send Rec command to the Octatrack)?

  Understanding Motif Screen
Posted by: Martin - 12-13-2021, 11:17 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (2)

Hello. I'm new to the NDLR and I'm sorry to say that I have problems understanding half of the motif screen. :-)

Pattern and rhythm: In the manual I read that there is a clock divider. I tried it and the lower the divider the longer the played note. Understood.

Pattern and rythm length. The pattern is always 16 notes, even if they are not played (because I may have reduced the pattern length). So if I have a rhythm, this is when and how strong it playes, and the pattern is the note height and count, what is played, the notes? So I could have a rhythm of length 32 and a pattern of length 16 would be played two times "in" it? this would be called "locked" in the manual?

Variation: If I change the "Variation" how the pattern is played, the notes:beats ratio changes. Why? And correlating to what? If the Variation is just in what order the notes of the pattern are played, so how can it have an influence on the notes:beats ratio?

Notes:beats ratio: What is this thing? The beat is given by bpm, e.g. 60 bpm. The note length is set by clock divider based on bpm. Set this to one I have 60 beats per minute, one beat per second. So what then is the notes:beats ratio? It sounds, as it would be the same?!? Or is the "beats" part of this ratio the already calculated result of the divided clock above? beat = clock / divider?

Offset: In "Syncing Motifs", page 39, it is said that motifs can just be synced by pressing the "Start/Stop all" button. Under "Offset" I read that motifs can have an offset from each other. Does this mean that the second motif plays e.g. 1/16 beat later when both started together? Does it have an effect when both motifs are started by preesing the motif buttons?

Thanks in advance.

  Add Motif 3 and 4

It would be nice to be able to edit a 3rd motif, and send that to midi out. Hell why not 2 more?

MRCC needs powercycle in fully booted windows
Posted by: Raphie - 12-11-2021, 02:42 AM - Forum: Computer MIDI Connectivity - Replies (37)

I've found an issue that gave me headaches over the past few nights
If the MRCC is already on, before my PC finished booting (win11) Cubase is not working properly
It sees all the MRCC ports, but no data is being sent
When power cycling the MRCC again in Cubase everything works. And remains working fine
Anybody else got this problem?
I like "set and forget" but this means an extra action every studio session.
It really seems to be a detection issue. No other USB device has these detection issues on my DAW
Pls advise? Can this be because of changes in the latest beta?
If so, I prefer to have the basics right first, rather than a FW with an attitude  Big Grin

chord sequencer - associate a program change
Posted by: noodleeater - 12-11-2021, 12:03 AM - Forum: Feature Requests - Replies (1)

In the bottom part of the chord sequencer as you input A-1  A-2  B-1  B-2  C-1 etc  would be great to be able to repeat one of them but with a program change, e.g. add the program (sound) for each item in the sequencer. That way I can do A-1 (bell) B-1 (guitar) A-1 (harp) etc...

I guess the complexity is what part do you want to change to apply to (drone, pad, motif). so its probably not the simplest feature.

Or maybe work it from a midi-in to change a part so you can at least drive it from a keyboard. Add a screen so that upon receiving a midi event you set the part and program change.

  song for cheer (xmas tune)
Posted by: noodleeater - 12-10-2021, 08:39 PM - Forum: Show me what you got! - No Replies

My first noodle ... hope u like ..  all parts from my kurzweil k2000. all chord changes programmed in the chord seq.  all recorded live with no DAW.  I think it shows u can do a lot with just one synth. I've had my ndlr for just 7 days so still learning....

2 oscillators used on pad, first for position and second for accent. thats it.

I need to re-record in my 192k/24 and post to sound cloud its a bit muddy off the ufx1204 48k. next add a streichtfett. I have one more comp which is analog and really manic so I'll try to add that to this post stay tuned....

DAW USB routing - Getting confused, please help
Posted by: Raphie - 12-10-2021, 01:46 PM - Forum: Computer MIDI Connectivity - Replies (2)

So far the MRCC has been great, connected via Midi IN/OUT to my MioXL
Now I want to use it directly in Cubase and I get confused

The MRCC PC Port has a green light (called IN) andf a Blue light (called out)
I assume the green PC light is the traffic FROM daw to MRCC and the blue PC light is the traffic from MRCC into DAW, is this correct?

This is what I then do
I have a synth connected to midi out 1 (DIN) on the MRCC
I select the left PC button (green light) virtual port 1 is selected, I let go and select midi out 1 (blue light)
In cubase the I can select MRCC until MRCC12
I select "MRCC" as output (this corresponds with virtual port 1)
I have the correct midi CH selected in Cubase (in this case 1)
I play a sequence in Cubase
NOTHING happens

I'm probably doing something wrong, but what?
What is the correct way of playing a hardware synth connected to the MRCC Din out, from Cubase, over USB PC connection.
Pls advise?
