ClikIn CV slow BPM for Clock In?
Posted by: Jeremiah - 09-02-2023, 12:29 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (6)

Hello, so, I have the NDLR "clock in" set to "ClkIn CV" with a chord from a Roland TR-8S "Trigger Out" to "NDLR's CLK IN".

However, while the TR-8S is set to say, 120 BPM the NDLR plays 10 BPM rather than 120, or whatever the BPM may be the NDLR doesn't change to reflect it and stays within that very slow range.

When I switch the clock to anything but internal the BPM changes to 18.5.

I cannot figure out why this is. Thanks!

  NO Boot, NO Lights. Linux
Posted by: midiwall - 08-26-2023, 02:28 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (6)

Hey all!

The last 24 hours have been "interesting", and this forum has been super helpful in not letting it go much past that! I needed sleep!

I've had my MRCC for a while, never thought about updating it, then I did think about updating it. That was about 24 hours ago. Smile

When I started down the update road, at some point I hit the FW button, like you're supposed to. Well, the NORMAL action would have happened, buuuut - I'm on Linux. The next few hours were fueled by "Nah, it couldn't be Linux mucking the box!".

The symptom was like others had said, no lights, (quick flicker of the PC light on power up), no response, everything's hosed, where'd I put that chicken, G-D! Cables, ports, hubs, USB 2 ports, adapters, with/without the PC host cable in...

Grabbed an old Windows laptop... Well, that was easy,.

So, to the other discussions here, I wanted to add:

  • The cheaper the WINDOWS laptop the better
  • YES it could be Linux (not specifically, but..) ***
  • YES it could be the hub/switch
  • YES it could be the cable
I've been doing this stuff a LONG LONG time... I still don't think it's the cable. (or any of that other stuff)

Notes:
- The totally dead look is actually OK. That's the processor sitting locked in FLASH (update) mode. It's not gonna do much else until it sees something like Teenzy (bootstrap/firmware loader) talk to it. A power cycle or 'power with button' combos won't help. Including factory reset) It was never explicitly said in the other discussions, but IT IS NOT DEAD. It just needs a flash.

- *** Regarding Linux - I did try Wine, and a Windows VM, and native Linux flash tools... The issue here is actually a feature. Linux works hard to keep all devices happy, and that includes multiple apps trying to jam on a single-threaded port (like, MIDI). The problem comes in with an app like Teenzy who wants to own the whole device, way down deep in the driver stack. That's not a happy place for other apps, and things will start hanging because the guy that now OWNs the port (MIDI port) isn't playing by the rules. As such, Teenzy never hears the broadcast from the MRCC saying that its ready for a firmware blast, so things just don't work. And, finding yourself at this point at 3am isn't fun. It took me a bit to cave and use a native Windows laptop.

Hope that helps someone! Like I say, the other threads here on this didn't quite spell out a couple of things. That was the 1a-3a slot. lol

  Sync with MPC One host
Posted by: dom0201 - 08-18-2023, 07:03 AM - Forum: Hardware MIDI Connectivity - Replies (1)

Hi
I'm a newb/dimwit, so please bare with...

My MPC One is connected to [MRCC] PC and provides the master clock. (MRCC f/w v1.1.073)

When I plug my NDLR, RD-8 mkii, SQ-1 direct into the MPC One, I can assign Sync to them individually (see image)
[Image: AF1QipMD6ASareFQOXsAVXJKy_jTOUXzKk7F9g-ZNNW_]
When the devices are plugged into the MRCC , the MPC can't see them (even though routing is enabled) - I just get MRCC MIDI 1-12.
Is there any way to allow the MPC to recognize and display the connected devices via the MRCC?
Also, the RD-8 starts and stops fine, but not the SQ-1. The NDLR starts after a stutter but also puts out midi clock (red triangle) even though I changed internal clock to USB1.

Sorry, another question... my VK-8 organ module listens on 3 midi channels (DIN), can I filter channels 2 & 13 and just allow channel 16 to reach it?

Thanks for any guidance
Dom

Sending MIDI CC From Ableton to NDLR Over USB?
Posted by: dennisrcao - 08-08-2023, 09:59 PM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (3)

So the manual says I can send CC 73 to change the key of the NDLR

You can see a snapshot of my Ableton session here - see the track labeled 4 MIDI has a clip that is sending CC on 73. The track is set out to send on NDLR (port 1)  out to NDLR via USB.
 [Image: Screen-Shot-2023-08-08-at-9-51-57-PM.png]

Also here are my MIDI settings in Ableton, note that I have clock working where Ableton is the master (when I press play in Ableton, the NDLR starts up and is synced to Ableton's clock.).

[Image: Screen-Shot-2023-08-08-at-9-55-42-PM.png]
to I had to enable the "Track" preferences for output "NDLR (Port 1)" in order to see it as a listed midi output port (see below) otherwise it wouldn't show up.
 [Image: Screen-Shot-2023-08-08-at-9-57-58-PM.png]

But anyways, no matter what value I set the clip's CC value (in picture 1), I don't see the NDLR LED screen changing to reflect any key changes.

crazy clock with Akai Force over USB
Posted by: Bigsniff - 08-04-2023, 07:20 AM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (2)

I'm using the NDLR with my MPC force, and everything sounds great when I'm just jamming with the sequencer stopped. But when I try to actually let the Force sync to the NDLR, the clock is totally crazy. What am I missing?

NDLR is sending four parts over USB 1, 2, 3, and 4, each part set to Channel 1 on its respective USB part.  Midi clock out is set to USB 1, as I was thinking that setting it to "all" would duplicate the clock over all 4 channels and may have been causing the problem.

Force still acts like it's receiving multiple clocks at the same time and goes crazy.

  ARP on synth doesn´t work
Posted by: mrcc_user12123 - 08-04-2023, 03:59 AM - Forum: Hardware MIDI Connectivity - Replies (4)

So basically the connection from my synth to MPC One works. The MPC One is my master clock. My old midi interface from ESI also passed on the master clock without any problems. Only now when I try to sync on my Sequential (REV2 but also PRO3) with the internal ARP of Sequentials nothing happens. The ARP of both synths does not start. What can be the reason?

  MMRC Remote-7 labels
Posted by: MickG - 08-03-2023, 10:18 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (3)

Hi,

I can't seem to find any references, either in the MMRC manual or in Youtube videos, to assigning labels to the outputs of the Remote-7.

Can anyone help please?

LFO on Pad Position: Chrods drop out
Posted by: hallundrauch - 08-02-2023, 05:24 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (1)

When I put an LFO on the pad position, the chord drops out every few takes and doesn't send notes in that bar at all. This is very annoying when the complete pad instrument drops out every now and then unconcrolled, so I can't program any movement on the pad position, that's a pity....
Latest firmware is installed. Has anyone observed the similar and maybe found a solution?

Switch between AKAI MPC ONE and PC as main DAW (sequencer, clock)
Posted by: mrcc_user12123 - 07-23-2023, 10:24 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (11)

I want to switch which DAW I can use. On the one hand I use the AKAI MPC One and on the other hand my PC. Now I would like to make either the MPC or the PC the main sequencer and main host depending on which setup I have. How do I have to connect the devices to enable me to do this. There is only one HOST USB port. Thank you for your support.
