Tip: sending 4 USB channels to one synth multiplies clock rate
Posted by: synthdad - 04-13-2019, 03:13 AM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (1)

Hi,

I was testing my NDLR with the Elektron Digitone, and initially set each part to play on a separate USB MIDI channel corresponding to each of the 4 tracks on the Digitone (e.g. Pad = MIDI Ch 1 USB1, Drone = MIDI Ch2, USB2). While this worked for sequencing from the NDLR every time I added a channel the clock on the Digitone was multiplied - each USB channel was sending a clock and all the clock pulses got added together on the Digitone. I ended up with a beat of 360bpm on the Digitone which was...fun!

This was easily fixed by setting each part to the same USB port, but on different MIDI channels so only one clock pulse was sent to the Digitone. Just a tip if anyone else sees this happen...

Just got my NDLR - here's the result of 10 minutes of noodling!
Posted by: synthdad - 04-11-2019, 07:48 AM - Forum: Show me what you got! - Replies (2)

Plugged in a MIDI cable and a power cable and within 10 minutes I had made a very sweet ambient track. Amazed at how fast I was productive the NDLR out-of-the-box. I'm going to be doing more videos as I explore its features and integrate it into my studio.

Enjoy!

Exclamation Heads-up: CLK OUT and Akai Rhythm Wolf
Posted by: pickletech - 04-09-2019, 03:30 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (2)

Given that the Rhythm Wolf is generally hated, this info might end up only being relevant to me, but I thought I'd share just in case.

For the RW to be synced with CLK OUT, the patch cable absolutely has to be mono - there are plenty of scenarios where you can get away with using a stereo "aux" cable (idea being that the ring connection gets grounded by default) but this isn't one of them. I'm guessing it's because the NDLR is using the ring for the "jack detect" mentioned in the manual, and the RW is doing similar - end result is the Wolf thinks there's no clock and refuses to play patterns. For comparison, CLK OUT via an aux cable into the trigger inputs for LFO or S&H on a Behringer Neutron works fine.

Now I can continue being the only person who likes the Rhythm Wolf.  Big Grin

  MIDI + SoftSynth(Ableton)
Posted by: shrekage - 04-02-2019, 08:34 PM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (12)

Hi, I am connecting NDLR to soft synths inside Ableton and a standalone synth. I can see NDLR recognized as a midi device but for some reason I cannot get audio from it. I have made a video of what I am seeing here, can someone help?

Thanks

Chord Sequencer - add generative possibilities?
Posted by: Rigs - 03-28-2019, 04:12 AM - Forum: Feature Requests - Replies (2)

Chord Sequencer - add generative possibilities?

As you are putting together (hopefully) the Chord Sequencer - would it be possible to add in random / probability parameters as you've done elsewhere - and in particular generative options, from gentle actions, all the way through to downright wacky. This would add a super new dimension to this great machine.

  MIDI Interface
Posted by: Solaris - 03-28-2019, 12:16 AM - Forum: Feature Requests - Replies (1)

Greetings,

I design patches while NDLR is doing its thing and it will be great to have MIDI interface functionality so that i can dump sysex via NDLR DIN5 ports that are connected to my synths pass through USB into PC. In other words, it will be great if the MIDI-Sysex editor/librarian program on PC can communicate with hardwares through DIN5 IN/OUT A and B of the NDLR.

Thank you.

  2 NDLRs

Our Monster Planet Oddcast live streams include 2 NDLRs in our mess'o'gear. I'd say 33.333% of the notes played in these performances are generated by the NDLRs.

  Interested in Purchasing

Hi, all.  Very interested in purchasing this lovely product, but would like to ask an honest question:

I've been in need of a hardware sequencer and just recently decided to purchase a new Squarp Pyramid, which is inbound from France.  I only just yesterday became aware of the NDLR courtesy of the loopop video.

Not sure how familiar you all are with the Pyramid, but can you please honestly comment on what kind of overlap this has with that product.  This just being a modest home hobby, I can't afford to purchase anything too redundant.  However, if this provides its own form of creative expression completely, I think I can talke myself into it - doesn't usually take much. Smile

Thanks so much for your input!

  NDLR and Eurorack Integration?
Posted by: Hiroshi - 03-25-2019, 03:28 PM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (4)

Hi Everyone,

I'm still not an owner of the NDLR, but I'm highly interested in what it's capable of.

Has anyone tried to use NDLR with Eurorack? Due to lack of my knowledge/experience, I cannot figure out how to work around sending the  'Pad' signal in different CVs corresponding to each note of chords.

Expert Sleepers FH-2 seems to be the best partner to achieve this, but perhaps, MIDI to CV conversion could be limited to Drone and Motifs, I wonder?
