clock recv on ndlr after rt stop
Posted by: bummertown - 02-10-2024, 09:22 PM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (4)

hi! first time poster... i ran into an issue today that i didn't see documentation or a forum post addressing, but please forgive me if i missed something. i have a digitakt, MRCC, NDLR, and sh-4d, with digitakt sending the clock and start/stop. when i boot everything up, things work as expected, i.e., NDLR is seeing the clock signal and if i arm any of the parts, the NDLR sends the appropriate note messages. however, when i hit stop on the digitakt, NDRL seems to stop receiving clock. looking at MRCC, the clock is still being sent to NDLR, but the indicator stops blinking on the main screen in NDLR and the clock on the menu page does not indicate that clock is being received either. i just upgraded both firmwares to be sure i wasn't missing some fix. any suggestions would be much appreciated!

  Question on glissando effect
Posted by: Tugdual - 02-10-2024, 03:56 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (4)

Several synths allow to tie 2 notes and produce a glissando effect.
It can be done manually by overlapping 2 notes slightly when playing.
Is this feature available with the NDLR? I read the doc and couldn’t figure out what was the actual rythm note on duration. It seems to be fixed and wouldn’t overlap next step. Am I right?

  Clear colors

Hi,
is there a way to change the blue color to e.g. green because blue on black is hard to see clearly from a distance.
Thanks

  KB trans issue
Posted by: dubstationzero - 01-25-2024, 05:44 PM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (4)

owned the original and bought a new ndlr v2 and got here last week. but the  kb trans function is acting really weird .

i've tried all ports and different controllers to different synths all with the same result .

when i press the same key (any key) repeatedly it starts to climb in scale and then back down as if there is a midi feedback loop .

i'm using all stand alone linear hardware,  5 pin midi controller to midi b in to ndlr out midi b and to the synth . powered ndlr by separate usb wall wart .there is no possible way any feedback loop is occurring.

like i said tried all ports and different controllers

i hooked it up to ctrlr.org's midi monitor to see what was happening and the note off number is not matching the note on number and each time the same key is pressed different note on and off values occur

i tried re flashing the firmware but didn't help.  all other functions working perfectly fine .  monitoring midi messages on the other motifs and the note on # is matching the note off #

  Pad notes 'sticking'
Posted by: DocJoe - 01-21-2024, 12:58 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (1)

Hi folks,

My NDLR (a MK 1) is setup so that the PAD notes are on MIDI channel 5 (using USB1). I have a Launchpad Pro Mk 3 connected to the MIDI A, sending notes to be harmonized on channel 9. I use the Launchpad as a keyboard, with the NDLR handling all the sequencing and harmony.  The NDLR and the LP3 are both synced to my DAWs (Bitwig) most of the time.

Normally, this works perfectly well. However, since the latest upgrade (which is AWSOME, by the way)  I find then when I play notes in via the LP3, the Pad often (not consistently) will get stuck and just continually play a chord. It requires a midi panic hit (Shift Panic) to stop.  If I change the chords on the NDLR, the previous 'stuck' notes continue to play. If I stop the Pad via the NDLR, the stuck notes continue to play.

I do not think this is an issue with Bitwig, as it also happens when I connect the set-up to other software, such as Voltage Modular.  It also happens on all the computers I use.

I am wondering if this is a bug that's crept in, or if it is an issue with my setup.  Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Best regards,
Joe

  USB Power issues from nowhere
Posted by: kolumbo - 01-20-2024, 01:54 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (1)

For a long time, as recently as two weeks ago when I last used it, I was powering my microfreak with the MRCC. Today, the MRCC is acting like it's not receiving enough power. What could have changed?

  Encoders
Posted by: Frenzies - 01-19-2024, 02:06 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (1)

Hi all,
New NDLR user here.
Is it normal that the encoders are not always very responsive?
It can take a number of clicks before the value changes.
I have similar on my Peak, but not as bad.

Thanks

NDLR and soft synths in logic
Posted by: particledots - 01-13-2024, 04:14 PM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (1)

I recently got a NDLR and I am trying to make it work with the soft synths in logic audio.

I load 4 soft synths, each set to a different midi channel but when I use the NDLR, all of the midi info for pad, drone, motif 1+2 is played by each soft synth at the same time - they should all be on their own individual midi channels.
Midi info is being transmitted over USB from the NDLR to logic

I cant figure out out how to send the midi info for drone, pad, motif 1+2 (from the NDLR) to each soft synth - any thoughts or ideas where i can find a solution for this?

This may ultimately be a Logic midi configuration thing rather than a NDLR thing...not sure at this point, but I thought I would check here first before I start digging around

  firmware update issue
Posted by: Morganf - 01-13-2024, 08:59 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (1)

I've just updated my Ndlr with the 1.1.086 firmware version and now the position/patt-len encoder of motif 1/2  doesn't work anymore. Click is okay but rotation stopped having any effective action, it only moves position one step right and back. I've tried to reload firmware... but it's not better. Confused
Any solution ?

I forgot to mention  I got a V1 NDLR.

Note values changing randomly when editing
Posted by: arnoldorodeo - 01-12-2024, 01:06 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (3)

Hi folks, really pleased to join the NDLR community ! Just a few words to introduce myself as it is my first post: My main job is sound engineer & mastering too but I also produce with others artists some progressive electronic music here in France with international artists. My configuration is hybrid , I won't speak of my peripherals here for mastering , out of subject , but about producing some old stuffs such as Akai S950 , Emu 3 , Roland MC303, Triton ProX with Moss extension, Oberheim OB12, Novation keyboard controller , Virus TI Snow ... The whole things are connected to Prism Orpheus & I work mainly in Pro Tools.
As a happy owner of NDLR I discover each day new tricks Smile

I got few questions , even after reading the manual 2.0 several times.

1- I would like to know why they are so many USB outputs & most of all why they are splitted with "ALL" & "1 to 4".

2- I've been unable to random the velocity of Motifs 1 & 2. No problem for affecting LFO , amount of randomness etc but when i record in Pro Tools the result on a midi track I just see many fixed values of velocity. So here is my second question : Is there a way to modulate randomly all the value of the Rythm editor once I found a nice motif? Note that I always put before beginning a session to put the velocity value in global menu to a decent middle value, around 64.

3- Could someone explain why when editing a motif (1 or 2) the note values suddenly change, even without a LFO modulation targetting it ? Those mysterious changing values appear only when I edit a motif. Once it's done , if I work in another window, say the rythm editor , there is no more values changes. Weird.

4 - About the rotator mode. Once I activated this in the menu I've been unabled to find a right configuration with USB keyboard to hear what I do (meaning rotating chords on a virtual instrument) while another midi channel send the transposing chords. I even experienced some crashes with Pro tools. That would mean a bad midi configuration. I would need to know the best way to configure in MIDI tracks how to use this wonderful rotator mode.

I am conscious it takes time to learn deeply this kind of machine. I already made some wonderful lines of motifs, chords with it. Really really beautiful piece of gear & so grateful to the team who created it.

Thanks for reading my post & helping me.
Arnold
