Cannot get MMRC 880 to work with DAW
Posted by: dadjokes - 07-22-2023, 12:40 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (5)

Hi there,

I'm using a Komplete Kontrol S61 into Logic Pro X. I can't seem to get MIDI out of the DAW and to my external synths.

I've got the KK connected to the computer via USB.

The MMRC is in 'PC' mode selection, and holding the PC Input button shows Input 1 lit up green. The PC Output button when hold shows all 4 DIN outputs as selected (which is what I want, as I want to send MIDI to all 4 external synths, but on different channels).

Not only am I getting no MIDI out to the DINs, it's also producing a lot of MIDI 'noise' with data coming from somewhere even when I'm not playing.

Can anyone shed any light on what I'm missing here?

Thanks!

MRCC 880: Midi to PC just for Midi in 1?
Posted by: Dark Dirk - 07-22-2023, 06:06 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (1)

Dear Reader - I am using Cubase 11 on WIN10 and I intend to use the MRCC880 as a Midi Interface for my DAW.
It appears to me that I only can use the MIDI IN 1 from my stage piano to record midi data.
But I also have a Synth with Aftertouch (which the stage piano has not have) and I indended to use this synth on MID IN 2.
I do not use both simultaneousliy, but unplugging the midi cable is not what I want to do, the MRCC880 is not within reach.

1) So far ist is impossible to me to make MIDI IN 2 delivering any data to my Cubase. What do I do wrong?

Any feedback is apprechiated.

Best regards, DD

(PS: english is not my motherthongue)

Photo Help : How to - use Midi to control external instruments
Posted by: moneyman - 07-22-2023, 01:28 AM - Forum: MIDI Connectivity - Replies (3)

Help. I want to playback midi notes to my external device in Ableton with MRCC. But I can't figure out how to do it. See notes in the diagram.
Also, the external instrument "Moog silmphatty" is plugged into MRCC and can receive notes in Midi channel 2.

Please advise! Thanks.!

KB Trans mode - small alteration request
Posted by: Saltech - 07-14-2023, 07:23 AM - Forum: Feature Requests - Replies (7)

Hi, Regarding the KB Trans mode, would it be possible to allow the black keys to actually play "wrong" / non-diatonic notes, instead of just doubling up on the nearest "right" note? I'm thinking that the best way to implement this would be for the black keys to play one semitone down from the next white key. This would allow you to play "out" and then back "in" as a great way to jazz up a solo and also to use the black keys for passing notes and slurs. It wouldn't take away from the 'safety' of playing in transpose mode - you'd just need to stick to the white keys for that, but it would open up a whole lot of expressive jazz / blues potential for soloing over a chord or chord progression.

  Change screens with midi.
Posted by: Stratblue - 07-12-2023, 07:57 AM - Forum: MRCC Feature Requests - Replies (1)

Hi there.

I'd like to nominate a particular CC that would allow me to scroll through the screens remotely, I could store particular values on certain buttons of a controller to take me to specific screens.

  73 firmware bug
Posted by: Stratblue - 07-12-2023, 07:54 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (3)

Hi there.

Just updated to the 73 firmware, I noticed in the blurb about it that it said that it had fixed the patch number text corruptions visible under certain circumstances. Unfortunately it is still there on the routing matrix/activity screen and I see it on the splash screen at start up too.

  Strymon Nixie Editor
Posted by: Archon - 06-29-2023, 08:20 AM - Forum: Computer MIDI Connectivity - Replies (2)

Alright, just want to document to maybe save others the hassle.  I tried for around an hour to get Strymon Nixie to connect to my Big Sky and Time Line pedals through Midi to no avail.  I have 2 mrccs and maybe that is the problem.  my connections were:

remote MRCC:
MRCC 5 out --> Big Sky In
Big Sky Out --> Time Line In
Time Line Out --> MRCC 5 in

main MRCC (connected to PC)
USB ---> PC

ok so then my chain was
Main MRCC:
PC virtual cable 12 to Remote 5

remote MRCC:
5 to Remote PC virtual cable 12

so in theory I should have a connection looping through the pedals from the pc and back to the pc.

when I tested I saw midi data on each of the paths I described on the MRCCs, but the strymon nixie software just didn't like it I guess.  It would just say no hardware detected.

I made sure again and again that my settings and route were correct but no luck.

So then I tried a Roland UM-ONE cable instead of routing through the 2 MRCCs, and it just worked.

So in this case I think I'm going to bypass the MRCCs and just use the usb cable, it's not worth the hassle.  I also have to ensure this route is set and both mrccs are on, vs just leaving a cable plugged in and it just working.  Also there really is no point of connecting anything else through midi to these pedals anyway, so a direct connection makes sense.

If anyone actually has this setup working through 2 MRCCs, I would be curious, and maybe I'm just not completely understanding routing to a remote pc virtual cable, or maybe the software just doesn't like something about it.  Who knows.

My advice is just use a Roland UM-ONE and save yourself the hassle in this case.

Hello there!
I just got a NDLR weekend before last at the Portland Synth and Pedal Expo.
I was told to download the newest beta firmware off the forum and I have looked all over for it on this forum and don't seem to be able to find it.
Could someone please tell me where it is?
Thanking you all kindly in advance.
Excited to get into this machine!
All the best,

Channel Map Mod X -> Off
Posted by: stevelavietes - 06-27-2023, 05:06 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (2)

Aside from the Channel Map "Exclusive" and Channel-to-Port Mapping, I don't see a way to filter a specific channel from an in port to a specific out port.

From a single input port, I'd like have these filtered routings to two output port:

First output:
Only channels 1 through 9 (mapped naturally)

Second output:
Only channel 15 mapped to channel 2

The second output is covered by the "Exclusive" option. But I don't see a way to handle the first. I can't use the "Exclusive" option because only four channels are present in a single Channel Map modifier (and "Exclusive" is not the union of all applied Channel Map modifiers). But without "Exclusive", there doesn't appear to be a way to map multiple channels to nothing (as the Out port mapping doesn't have an "Off").

Am I missing something?

  USB Midi cable?
Posted by: Archon - 06-27-2023, 02:17 PM - Forum: Hardware MIDI Connectivity - Replies (3)

I tried searching and can't believe I can't find an answer.  if I want more 5 pin connections is there a compatible midi to usb cable I can use so I can take advantage of some of the usb ins/outs that as of right now I don't have much of a use for.

edit:  found a roland um-one so I guess I can try that and see what happens.

edit:  works great as far as I can tell.  So now my question is are there some cheaper alternatives as I would like to buy a fair number of these.  I have 2 MRCCs
