Midi controller to program pattern editor & rhythm editor ???!
#1
Hello! I was wondering would it be possible to use a midi controller like this to edit either the pattern editor or the rhythm editor? It would make programming them more tactile, and jamming on it a lot of fun too!  Cool

Not to edit the pattern editor, but you could use a midi controller to control just about everything else on the NDRL. I set up Launch control to control a ton of parameters a while back and it was a lot of fun. I don't know what goes into editing the MIDI CC numbers that device sends but the MIDI implementation for the NDLR is available in the manual and is quite robust. If you can edit the CCs that thing sends you could get pretty far with 16 sliders. The Novation SLII series is also great for this type of thing because the controls have LCD displays that tell you what the control does so it's way easier to remember what's what and the editor is pretty easy to use if I remember correctly.
You probably already know this, but to edit the pattern in the pattern editor you can just hook up a MIDI keyboard and play notes in while you're on the editing page.

Good call...seeing as there are no CC functions for changing the notes or velocity, I guess it can't be done. Would be pretty fun if they added that! Maybe I will suggest in the new feature section.

ps. tried the keyboard to add notes function and worked well =)

Thanks for posting this.  Hadn't heard of it before.  Definitely looks interesting.
