MIDI 2.0?
#1
Does anybody foresee any issues as MIDI 2.0 becomes a thing over time?

A Midi 2.0 device asks if the connected device is also Midi 2.0 capable.
No answer, then change to Midi 1.0.
This is what all Midi 2.0 devices are expected to do.

If the connected Midi 2.0 device is implemented correctly then there should be no issues except that you can't use the extra speed and capabilities of Midi 2.0

Midi 2.0 uptake seems slow so far. Development boards based on the Raspberry Pi nano have been sent to most manufactures and you can buy you own if you are interested.
Roland has a 'Midi 2.0 ready' keyboard, the A-88MKII. Currently it is Midi 1.0 but has the USB-C adapter ready for Midi 2.0 firmware.
They have been saying it is coming soon but that was a couple of years ago.

I couldn't find any other commercial products, but I am sure there must be some by now. Perhaps they are all working on it.
So I would expect you will get a few years out of the MRRC before there needs to be an upgrade.

All the best
