What is a Remote7 or R7? - IndieMurph - 03-11-2025

I was reading thru the MRCC manual and came across a reference to a Remote7 (R7) but I have no idea what that is. I checked the products page. Nothing there.  Eventually, I will be interested in connecting two MRCCs for additional MIDI routing to more synths.

Perhaps this helps?

The Remote 7 is an expander for the MRCC which allows you to either copy the first 5 ports output to the DIN outputs of the device (with 2 ports copied to both DIN and 3.5mm, hence 7). It is also possible to send individual routings to the 5 output targets by changing a setting and using the remote (Y guy) routing button on the MRCC.

If you want to connect 2 MRCCs you can with the same shielded cat 6 cable, and you can even use a special splitter to route to both the second MRCC as well as copying ports 1-5 to the Remote 7. We have a bunch of the splitters, and if you buy 2 MRCCs and a Remote 7, hit me up (at support@Conductivelabs.com) and we will chuck one of the splitters in with the order for free.

""It is also possible to send individual routings to the 5 output targets by changing a setting and using the remote (Y guy) routing button on the MRCC.""

Where would one go about finding this documented? Or the setting process?

I have been unable to find it.

You can switch the mode for Remote 7 outputs from "Copy 1-5" to "Remote 1-5" on the Settings screen Page 2/4. It's the last parameter on that page.

In the Quick Start Guide, it is covered under "MRCC Remote 7 Port Extender". In the User Guide, see the section "Settings screen page", R7 Ports.

Also see the "Remote Routing" section on page 14, but it's short; hold the Remote routing button (with the Y to the left of the navigation knob) and select outputs. When the Remote button is pressed, the outputs that are routable will glow yellow. With a Remote 7 in "Remote 1-5" mode, and attached with the appropriate Ethernet cable, there will be 5 yellow lights, and if there are two MRCC's attached to each other, there will be 12 yellow lights.

Good answer! We've now added this to our home page linked to the shop page.

We also have details in the MRCC Specifications section of the MRCC web page.
