Something Strange with the pattern editor - AL1_1956 - 01-31-2025 Hello Everybody and Happy New Year I have a problem with the pattern editor I want to make some "Berlin School" (Tangerine Dream , Klaus Schulze) style patterns So in the pattern editor I have done this Chord Mode 3 steps 1st step has value 1 2nd step has value 3 3rd step has value 4 so when i push I button I get C2 G2 C3 which is fine when I push II button I get D2 A2 D3 which is fine but when I push III button I get B1 G2 B2 in stead of E2 B2 E3 and other buttons give also strange results Is ther something I'm missing ?? My goal is to have what could be called for a guitar player "power chords" (root , fifth , root octave+1) Is it something possible or not ?? Thank You for reading Have A nice Day Alain RE: Something Strange with the pattern editor - AL1_1956 - 02-01-2025 OK I have found what I am doing wrong , I have changed the settings so that Chord Inversion is disabled and it is now working as I expected. But this does not explain why in Chord Inversion Mode when I push the III button I get B2 G2 B3 which is in no way an E power chord. And by the way it would be great to have an audio (midi) feedback when editing the pattern notes values so that by ear we can choose what note to put in the pattern I have not yet installed the new firmware because since I live in France ,I do not want to take risk of breaking my NDLR Than You for reading Have a nice day RE: Something Strange with the pattern editor - Jesse Johannesen - 02-08-2025 The Drone part can do octave root and fifth as one of it's settings. Less options on the rhythms but it's pretty straight forward to set up. With regards to the Motif part, it doesn't dictate that the Root is always the 0 step, rather that the 0 step changes with the position setting, rotating in lower notes and rotating out higher notes as you move to the left (CCW) and vice versa when doing the opposite. It sounds like your position is just in need of an adjustment to hit those notes correctly. We wanted the pattern programmer to be a page you can edit in real time while it is playing, so in that sense it does offer audio feedback. If you run the device and then enter the menu it will allow you to hear the notes as the sequencer cycles through them and make changes as it's playing. If you want to update the firmware, you should. It's not likely to cause any problems, and what problems are possible, are all easily resolved. We have only ever seen one unit get bricked, and that was from a bad USB port. Just make sure that you download the code for the correct hardware version or you'll have to download it agian. Cheers, Jesse RE: Something Strange with the pattern editor - AL1_1956 - 02-09-2025 Okay , thank you for the detailed explaination I am happy with the motif working as I like when Chord Inversion is unchecked for my "Berlin School Style" experience One of the smartest thing they did at that time was having two identical very simple patterns but one played 8 notes and the other play 7 or 5 notes Something I want to make with the Noodler. (I am 69 yo , so this kind of music is kind of "my thing") So I'd like to talk about another "problem" at least for me The MIDI CNTLR menu is great but for the Cutoff - Resonance screen It seems that the ccs are fixed it is 74 and 71. My synth (Nodal Red 2X) answer to 74 for cutoff which is OK but for Resonance it is 42 Is there a way to change those settings or could it be an option in a next firmware ??
