I want Advice on Enhancing Workflow with NDLR in a Live Performance Setting - amaria - 09-01-2024

Hello there,
I have been using the NDLR for a few months now, and I really enjoy all of the creative possibilities it offers. I am gearing up for some live performances and want to make sure I am fully optimizing its capabilities in a live setting.

My current setup includes a MIDI keyboard, a couple of synths, & a drum machine. I have been primarily using the NDLR to generate complex sequences & arpeggios but I am curious about how others are integrating it into their live workflows.

Seamless transitions between patterns and motifs during a live set
I want to know Best practices for syncing the NDLR with other MIDI devices
Any recommended settings or features that shine in a live environment
How to quickly adapt or tweak sequences on the fly without disrupting the flow

Also i have read this resorse/artical; https://conductivelabs.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=1106&action=newpost&srsltid=AfmBOooBwahUaayqjdNTyVn7AL6TgMDU2ygIrDEJGjf7j8JQXtKZr4IQampscript-in-sfmc but have not found any solution still need your advice. if you have any advice, insights, experiences or even setup suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

In my experience the best way to reproduce changes precisely on the NDLR is to use the NDLR Ctrl channel and sequence it with MIDI from another device. The control over parameters that this allows for is quite a bit more reliable than guaranteeing my ability to get to the correct menu and turn the knob in time, although I can't say I've ever done so in a live setting. The NDLR manual has a table, on pages 59-62, that shows what MIDI CC numbers control what functions and what the range is for those. I have done this in a Daw but really any sequencer that has CCs can do it.

This technique can also be used to recreate chord changes by sending note data to the NDLR Ctrl channel, all the white keys can be used to select chord degrees 1 - 7 starting with C, while the black keys can be used to select the chord qualities (triad, m7th, sus2, etc), if you have the "White and Black" selection (which is the default) selected in Settings 3/3 page of the menu. Then you can record the notes that create the chord changes of your performance and have the NDLR run automated freeing your hands to wiggle the knobs.
