MRCC & transport of long SysEx messages - Joris Röling - 04-25-2021

Hi ConductiveLabs,

Will the MRCC support routing arbitrary long SysEx messages? Or is there a certain limit to how long these messages are allowed to be?

I'll ask the dudes, but I know we've been testing the MRCC with some organs that send all of the parameters at startup via sysex, and haven't run into any issues there. I am not sure about the length of the messages, but I think the philosophy as far as I've seen has been to pass everything. The exception is that the DIN ports above 6 use a hand written code to send MIDI data, and SYSEX hasn't yet been implemented on that protocol yet. I will report back once I know more.

That was fast. Steve got back to me, the Max is 4K for Sysex.

Thanks Jesse & Steve for the fast response. I understand the limit, and 4K seems reasonable.
