  RC Moon
Posted by: secretstairsrecords - 07-24-2020, 07:28 AM - Forum: Show me what you got! - No Replies

RC Moon is a retro-futuristic depiction of what auto sports entertainment would look, taking place on the moons in distance systems, transmitted to how we view our future media.

A colorful, classic 8-bit video game style, stripped down to its organic, digital forms.

All music was created from various modules in VCV Rack and from various softsynths, all controlled by the NDLR, then edited in Logic Pro X.
All video was created using video generated from a classic video game emulation and emulator, then further manipulated using the Hyperspektiv app, all the Edited in iMovie.

After a long wait due to a delay in shipping as a result of COVID19.... the NDLR is finally here!
I wanted to make a short video welcoming this little dude into the creativity toolbox.

The video was shot on an iPhone 11 Pro Max by my partner in crime CheckID and edited by me in iMovie with some light effects from the Hyperspektiv app.

The voice samples were taken from Steve of Conductive Labs and used alongside music created in the VCV Rack and controlled by the NDLR.

The flower was created from various modules within VCV Rack, while the dark screen effect was the Lights Out module from Modular Fungi, created by the always inspiring @OmriCohenComposer— I owe you great debt with my journey into synthesis.

  2:30 AM Industrial Sludge (video/Audio)
Posted by: Ego Likeness - 07-20-2020, 01:52 PM - Forum: Show me what you got! - No Replies

This is a very minimal run through (for my rig) but it's only my third session with the NDLR, and I'm still figuring out the best workflow.

All the music, is being controlled by the NDLR, which is being controlled by Ableton.
Ableton is randomly selecting chord progress using follow actions.
Instruments:
The guitars are two different Ujam instruments
Hardware: Virus 1, Darkstar, Mopho, Ipad running Synthscraper
Industrial noise drum loops built by myself selected randomly by Ableton.
One low and one high drone by Serum
The Arp bass is also serum.

The bass, and guitars are triggered by the drone out from the NDLR.
Since it's just a power chord it's perfect for that.

I'm controlling Ableton with a custom lemur environment which is a fancy way of saying a bunch of digital faders on a ipad 1.

Everything runs through various sub mixers, and eventually ends up at a Roland MX1 performance mixer.
There's a bunch of other effects and kaoss pads in the mix also.

Next run through I will bring more of the ipads into it, as well as more of the hardware synths.

This was specifically built to make sure I could get the guitars to do what I wanted them to do.

  Chord sequencer suggestions
Posted by: JCFAX81 - 07-20-2020, 03:43 AM - Forum: Feature Requests - Replies (1)

Hi,

I've noticed that in chord sequencer you have to set the Key & Mode, would it be possible to lock it to the key & mode you select when using encoder 4?

A copy/paste function would be nice for the sections, so you don't have to set length etc everytime (would only need to change chord values).

It seems that when you stop or pause a part, upon pressing play, the chord progression does not start over (unless you are on chord sequencer page). I'd like a setting where the chord progression starts from the beginning.

  Ndlr Pad/Polychain question
Posted by: JCFAX81 - 07-19-2020, 10:50 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (2)

Hello

I recently bought a ndlr to pair with my Electribe 2. To give a little context, the Electribe has 16 synth or drum parts, and each part as 4 note polyphony.

When I use Pad I notice I can set the range to more than 4 notes (if polychain is off). Why is that?

Secondly, I don’t really understand polychain. Say, if I had polychain set to 2, I guess I would have 8 notes on the Electribe to play with (4x2)? Would it be best to have 2 pad patches which are the same or 2 completely different patches?

Thanks in advance.

  Digitone for NDLR motifs
Posted by: Rob'tG - 07-18-2020, 10:56 PM - Forum: Synths and Gear News, Discussion - No Replies

With drone and pad handled elsewhere, the Digitone has just two monophonic motif patterns to play.  Since the are eight notes maximum on the Digitone, I configure both layering and unison to use all eight notes.  The layered parts can each have an LFO for amp volume so that one gets softer while the other louder.

my 1st NDLR Track - "Life is a Wave"
Posted by: Mike Steffl - 07-18-2020, 12:36 PM - Forum: Show me what you got! - Replies (1)

Only a few days ago a longtime mentor and true friend of mine passed away.
So I decided to put my feelings into music and started to play. This is what came out:

https://youtu.be/Mp3hwmERqMI

Once again a hardware synth live jam. No computer or overdubbing involved, just a
one take recording.

Having received my NDLR just 2 days before, I didn't had the time to check out the vast
possibilities of this great gear. However, I wanted to start using it in this track and it
turned out to be easy to use.

My WALDORF BLOFELD, generating a juicy 4 part basement for this track, was controlled
by the NDLR. As I was playing the lead parts live, I found it very comfortable to change
the Blofeld chords on the NDLR without caring for the notes. It was fun to combine pad, drone
and the 2 motifs on the NDLR.

In order to add some live parts I used some other synths to help me express my feelings. The lead part
was played mostly on Yamaha MODX7, Reface DX and Korg MinilogueXD.
The DSI Pro2 and Waldorf Streichfett provided some coherent shades.

I'm looking forward to dive into all the wonders that are inside the NDLR.
Thanks to Conductive Labs for giving us such a powerful new tool.

  German customs confiscate my NDLR
Posted by: Soundturbine - 07-17-2020, 12:43 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (10)

German customs confiscate my NDLR.
What's wrong with the package?

Friday 10.07. my NDLR was sent and is on Sunday, July 12th arrived in Germany.  After waiting 5 days, I contacted the customs office in Schkeuditz/Germany today.
They now told me that the package was confiscated after the customs inspection !!! (today July 17th)
I will be informed about this in writing in the next few days. The whole thing is very, very annoying.
How can it go on?

Any Idea what could be wrong?

Thanks in advance and kind regards.
