  Aligning/syncing parts, sequencer, modulation
Posted by: 190531085100 - 12-08-2020, 10:49 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (1)

Hi all,

I have a hard time aligning the 4 parts, the pattern/rhythm modulation I dial in, and the chord sequencer.

What's your approach to line up these elements to get predictable results?

As an example: I created 3 custom Rhythms and 3 custom Patterns. Length is done by steps. I dial in a modulation to go from one to the other, and I have 40s, 48 beats, 8 beats, random etc available in the mod matrix. In the sequencer, I can dial in number of 1/4 notes plus number of iterations of A/B/C. With all these elements combined, the end result is not predictable.

In this example, I would like to cycle through my 3 custom patterns, so one after the other is playing, but for this to follow the chord sequencer somewhat. In the chord seq, I might have a length of 16 notes, then 8 notes, then 16 notes again. It seems I would have to pre-calculate this on paper, but I'm looking for a more automated way. Here, if my first pattern is 16 steps the first chord might line up, but at the second chord, the chords and patterns fall out of sync. Same with rhythms - I'd like to somehow plan for a specific rhythm to start at a specific chord change.

Is there a way to dial in a mod source that goes by 1/4 steps? So that I can predict - at that exact point in time when my chords change from I to V, Motif 1 will switch from Pattern 21 to 22?

I understand the NDLR is an arp more than a sequencer. I just wish I could know/plan in advance the specific points in time when a number of elements come together.

Thanks!

  Feature Request - Resync
Posted by: The Puppeteer - 12-07-2020, 05:19 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (1)

One of the challenges we have live is if a box loses MIDI sync (or song position).

Would it be possible to have a resync feature that sends a MIDI start on the next loop of a user defined number of bars on a specific output.

The idea is if for example one of our live sequencers loses sync, we can stop it locally, press the resync on the MIDI port and next time the loop goes around it sends a start message on that port to restart our sequencer, or if the sequencer is out of sync (say it's 4 bars out because stupidly we accidentally selected a 4 bar pattern instead of an 8 bar pattern sometime earlier in the set), send a start message to restart that sequencer in sync.

It would need to be synced up to whatever port is selected as the master clock, but this feature would be an absolute godsend to us.

Pretty much a version of this thing, on each output - http://mungo.com.au/syncZ.html

  chord sequencer
Posted by: AxxxL - 12-07-2020, 12:53 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (4)

Hello,
a question concerning the chord sequencer. When I programm a chord sequence I hear very short stops before the sequencer changes to the next chord. This means that all 4 tracks have a very short stop, sounds like the last view milliseconds are chopped off just before the next chord is introduced. It also seems that the chords would change just a bit before the next downbeat, but not exactly on the downbeat. Tried it on a DAW as well on hardware synths...  Any ideas? THX

  MRCC Available on conductivelabs.com/shop
Posted by: Darryl - 12-07-2020, 01:50 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (2)

We have MRCC's and accessories available in our shop at https://conductivelabs.com/shop

The Backerkit MRCC pre-order store is open!

MRCC Pre-Orders

The current estimated date for shipping pre-orders is late March 2021. While we really appreciate your excitement for MRCC, we're excited too, please understand that this is a product that is still in development. Though we've crossed the threshold and are ordering the parts for production, we still have to get everything dialed in. If you are at all concerned about the delivery date, please wait to order until we have units in stock. We will be selling them on our website at that time, probably for just a little more $$.
[Update] We plan to start taking orders around the first week of March. Deliver still expected by end of March.

We are racing to make 250 units for our Kickstarter contributors before Chinese New Year, which starts February 5th in China. Once their holiday starts, nothing gets done for a about 3 weeks and there's a backlog of work to catch up on afterwards. Kickstarter backers, please don't order at the pre-order store, you will get a survey with an offer for add-ons before we start shipping, and rack ears are included with your Perk.
[Update] We will have a pilot run before Chinese New Year, but perks will be manufactured and ship in March.

On Backerkit, credit cards are processed by Stripe. I believe they only charge your card once we've indicated that we are ready to ship. We've made shipping $35, plus $5 for an accessory or two. We'll be covering a portion of the shipping cost depending on the destination. We will ship with a method that provides tracking. We ship from our Hong Kong based fulfillment partner. Outside the USA, you will be responsible for import tax, duty or VAT. Check with your Customs website for import rules and fees.

Check out the FAQs on Backerkit...

All the best,
Darryl and Steve!

Just got my NDLR yesterday. I was able to bang this out in a little over an hour. It would have taken me at least 4 without The NDLR. This is a HUGE time saver!!

Thanks!!

if you fix one thing, please fix this small thing...

When i press play all/stop all, it does not reset the sequencer. This wouldnt be *too* bad except i'm syncing with a drum machine, and it restarts the drum pattern when play is pressed.
That means pressing the play all button will always get ndlr out of sync with the drums.

So rather than a single button press to stop/start, I have to press stop all, then press shift-menu, turn knob to disarm sequencer, turn knob again to arm sequencer, then press play again. Its easy to forget to do this when in the middle of something, and i feel like my music ends up being out of sync more often than being in sync.

If you could add a global option to have stop/play reset the sequencer this would make the workflow much smoother! (I'm actually not 100% sure if there's a use case where you'd ever *not* want stop all to reset the sequencer, but maybe there is?)

Thanks for listening!

New NDLR user here!

Short video with my newly-arrived NDLR and a selection of synths Smile

Variations in C | NDLR

Hope you find this interesting. I am planning more content in this series, having been inspired by Terry Reilly's "In C" as well as Oscillator Sinks' informative NDLR video introducing some randomness into the realm of generative music.

Take care and keep Making Music

  Midi Config

Ok..
Hello MIDI experts...   I'm fairly new to the MIDI world and just received my new NDLR.  I'm a bit overwhelmed with the MIDI/USB/CVs and am seeking some help with a proper midi/usb configuration..  My current goal is to be PC-less.   I would also like to control the Chord progressions in the NDLR from Push, all without any PC. But this is just a nice to have.  In any case, I’ve been unable to figure out a configuration.  The big confusion is I’m not sure if the IConnect Midi Outs can be routed to all the devices with only 1 IN from the NDLR etc.  Basically I’m seeking advice on the Route to and Route From in the chart below...  also attached a Word file for ease of editing....

Any help would be MUCH appreciated.
Thanks

  Pad Qnt
Posted by: MrBlaschke - 11-28-2020, 07:10 AM - Forum: Feature Requests - Replies (6)

Hi fellow NDLR‘s

I have a question regarding the Pad Qnt setting on Settings 3/3 Screen.
Would you consider to enable more than 1/4 and 1/8 qunatization?
I would like to have also 1/2 and 1/1 for my use-cases.

Is that possible?

Would be great.
You all stay safe and secure. Have good times!
Kind regards.
