It would be handy for me to be able to turn the clock transmit on and off in a menu item.

This is actually available in the NDLR Boot Menu. To get there press and hold [shift+MENU] while powering up, then once the menu pops up press Motif1 to toggle clock out on or off. Then press PANIC to save and continue booting up.
